Pentagon: Rumsfeld “Liberated” 50 Million In Iraq And Afghanistan…

DoD ACCOMPLISHMENTS SINCE 2001

Rumsfeld’s Additional Accomplishments

A cult of personality is normally not one of the hallmarks of a functional, well-adjusted democracy. This, of course, is only true if you’re not a neo-Conservative who’s been drinking Republican KoolAid for so long that personality worship just seems the normal order of things.

Donald Rumsfeld may be many things, but a “Liberator” is not on the list. He may be a gifted political infighter, a politician more used to channelling Machiavelli than Mother Teresa, and an ideologue with a heart of stone and the compassion of Torquemada, but he is NOT a “Liberator”. Not by any standard reasonable or otherwise.

Rumsfeld was more than just a Secretary of Defense. Indeed, he can only be accurately described as the Minister of War. Yes, his business was waging war, and on his watch, business was GOOD. So good, in fact, that he was able to participate in the propagandizing, selling and marketing of a pointless and immoral war and be jointly responsible for the deaths of close to 3,000 (and counting) American soldiers. As the Minister of War, he was primarily responsible for the planning and execution (pun intended) of a plan that continues to execute young Americans in the prime of their lives. To say that Donald Rumsfeld has buckets of blood on his hands wouldn’t begin to describe his central role in the clusterf—k that is the war in Iraq.

Seemed Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld had barely left his Oval Office firing ceremony when the Pentagon Web site popped up with a new feature titled “Six Years of Accomplishments” with Rummy.

First and foremost were his accomplishments in the “war on terror,” where overall, military efforts “liberated 50 million people in Afghanistan and Iraq.” More specifically, they’ve “liberated 31 million Afghans from Taliban control and destroyed Al-Qaeda sanctuary.” And they’ve “liberated 27 million Iraqis from a brutal dictatorship and turned over sovereignty of the country to an Iraqi government.”

And he helped old ladies cross the street in front of the Pentagon and won his macrame merit badge. Is there NOTHING this man cannot do? What a mensch….
