Wallace Falsely Claims Missouri Stem Cell Initiative Would Allow ‘Human Cloning’

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #466: Chris Wallace

Today on Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace repeatedly pushed the incorrect right-wing talking point that the Missouri ballot initiative on stem cells would allow human cloning….The Missouri ballot initiative clearly prohibits human cloning and makes it a felony crime. The initiative reads, “No person may clone or attempt to clone a human being.” The amendment does protect somatic cell nuclear transplant (SCNT), but it is not the same as human cloning, despite Wallace’s claim. Medical researchers, patient advocates, and others point out that the SCNT does not aim to duplicate a human being.

There was a time when it might have been possible to mistake Chris Wallace for an actual, honest-to-God, objective, truth-seeking journalist. Then he went to work for Fox News Channel, and it seems that Roger Ailes’ has removed Wallace’s brain and replaced it with something capable only of regurgitating whatever neo-Conservative line that Ailes’ happens to be interested in pursuing.

I don’t expect journalists to be perfect, but if you’re going to be interviewing someone on the subject of proposed legislation…wouldn’t it be reasonable expect that you would have read and understand enough of the legislation to at least have a clue as to what it proposes to do if passed? Then again, if all you’re really trying to do and are interested in doing is discrediting Claire McCaskill, the Democratic Senatorial candidate in Missouri, why let a few facts stand in your way?

Jeebus, how can Wallace look at himself in the mirror and honestly refer to himself as a “journalist”? Mike Wallace would be spinning in his grave…if he was dead, of course.

Then again, when has Fox News Channel EVER been about objective journalism?
