“I can’t stand the thought of my party having as its three front-runners three open adulterers, Newt Gingrich, Giuliani, and McCain,” Dornan said….”I’ve got one mission left in me, to come up to New Hampshire and tell the truth, and tell the Republicans you better find yourself a fresh face and not Rudy Giuliani who took his mistress around with him and then divorces Donnna who learns she was divorced sitting at home watching TV with her children….Aside from adultery, Dornan’s other issue is homosexuality, which he called “a cancer in my party.”
Man, you’ve got to know that the GOP is in a world of hurt when former Republican Congressman and renowned Right-wing nutjob Bob Dornan is making noises about running for President.
It’s difficult to see a Dornan for President campaign gaining much traction with an anti-adultery, anti-tolerance, anti-homosexuality campaign. Nonetheless, there are more than a few other Right-wing nutjobs out there who might just bankroll him, at least in the short term. Dornan might ultimately prove to be about as electable as Timothy McVeigh, but recognizing political reality has never been one of Dornan’s strong suits.
Even in light of Dornan’s obvious and numerous political shortcomings and distasteful positions, there’s a part of me fervently hoping that Dornan will throw his hate into the ring for 2008. Let’s face it; the comic relief potential would be through the roof, no?
Please, if there’s a God, let the 2008 campaign be between “B-1” Bob and Gen. Wesley Clark. Can you imagine what the debates would be like? A man who talks about war like it’s some sort of grand game against a man who has actually had to send men to their deaths in combat? Clark would wipe the floor with Dornan’s arrogance and ignorance…and I’d be loving every minute of it.
