Kobie Williams left Ramadan baskets packed with chocolate-laced trail mix on his neighbors’ doorsteps and wistfully spoke of going to Egypt to study the Quran. Adnan Mirza was active in Muslim groups and spent his Sundays at a Houston soup kitchen feeding the homeless. To their friends and families, Williams, 33, and Mirza, 29, were enthusiastic college students dedicated to God and family. But Justice Department officials presented a shockingly different view of the men Tuesday, branding both as Taliban supporters — one contributing $350 to terrorists — who conspired to train with weapons with the goal of fighting U.S.-led forces in the Mideast.
If there’s a minor league for terrorists, our two intrepid DUMB@$$E$ would be struggling to reach the Mendoza Line in a short-season Rookie League. Sure, they might aspire to be world-class jihadis, but it seems pretty clear that they didn’t have clue one as to how to actually go about achieving their goal.
Williams’ allegedly contributing $350 to the Taliban only goes to show how little these cretins actually knew about how to become a terrorist. I doubt Osama bin-Laden would get out of bed for $350. If you’re really trying to become a decent terrorist, you’re going to be cognizant of the fact the paranoia runs rampant in this country. A disciplined and professional terrorist would be keeping a low profile and doing his level best to avoid attracting attention. It would appear that neither Williams nor Mirza got to that part of the terrorist textbook.
“While these subjects did not operate at a high level of sophistication in comparison with Sept. 11 hijackers, the expressed goal was to aid the Taliban by training to carry out jihad against coalition troops in the Middle East,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Roderick Beverly said in a statement.
Right, now there’s an understatement, eh? Stealth, professionalism, and discipline? Uh…not exactly. DUMB@$$E$? Without a doubt.
