Lieberman Leaves GOP Door Open
WASHINGTON — Four days after calling his party affiliation a “closed issue,” U.S. Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman said Sunday he was “not ruling it out” that he could turn Republican….But the R is lurking….”I’m not ruling it out,” he said, “but I hope I don’t get to that point. And, I must say, and with all respect to the Republicans who supported me in Connecticut, nobody ever said, ‘We’re doing this because we want you to switch over.’”
Rather than just pretending to take the high road and pretending not to understand the barely-concealed rage being channelled in his direction, former DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) is actually making noises about switching parties and becoming a Republican. My response to that: And how, exactly, would that be any different from what you’re doing now? Lieberman owes his election to Connecticut’s Republicans who, rather than voting for their own candidate, came out in droves for Lieberman. A Democrat in name only? Yes, and the sad thing is that, with Democrats having a 51-49 majority as of January, Lieberman may turn out to be one of the most powerful people in the Senate. If he switches parties, Republicans retain their majority, because VP Biggus Dickus can break a 50-50 tie.
Democrats know that they can’t afford to piss Lieberman off. While most of us would like to set him adrift on an ice floe with a case of Coors Light and a box of Captain America comic books, he may actually hold the balance of power in the Senate. How’s that for sheer, unadulterated irony?
I’m Joe Lieberman, and I approved this message, because I’m a self-absorbed, egomaniacal fool who really cares only about my continued employment. Where else am I going to make this kind of money and get this kind of attention?
