Repeat it often enough and it eventually will become the truth

Ignoring widespread agreement on core issues, media suggested wins by “conservative Democrats” will cause intraparty strife

Interesting, isn’t it? Even whilst buried under the avalanche of Tuesday’s electoral equivalent of a bitch-slapping, some Republican pundits are trying to spin a resounding defeat into something suspiciously resembling a moral victory. Well, sure, Democrats carried the day…but, let’s face facts, shall we? Most Democrats elected Tuesday were CONSERVATIVE Democrats…or closet Republicans, if you will.

Say what??

In reality, the line separating a “Conservative Democrat” and a “Liberal Republican” is about the width of a nose hair. Even so, most Republican talking heads have since 2001 spoken of “Liberal” Republicans in tones ever so slightly redolent of the disdain they reserve for child predators and Nancy Pelosi. Now “Conservative” Democrats are all the rage and perfectly acceptable? Or is this merely a semantic balm for those who simply cannot process the reality the Republicans got their asses handed to them (and deservedly so)?

Frankly, it’s really rather comical listening to trolls like William Bennett and his ilk trying to spin a resounding defeat into something resembling victory. The reality is that Republicans lost, and they lost BIG. That may be a fair bit more than their prodigious egos are prepared to handle, but that’s really just too damn bad. These folks have ridiculed Democrats unmercifully for the past 12 years. If they had any class at all, they’d shut the Hell up and spend their energy trying to figure out where they went wrong.

Of course, pride and arrogance DOES come before a fall, eh? Perhaps if more Republicans took this lesson to heart, they wouldn’t be in their current predicament.
