Somewhere, Josef Goebbels is smiling

Bush Now Says What He Wouldn’t Say Before War: Iraq Had ‚Äö√Ñ√≤Nothing’ To Do With 9/11

To paraphrase Robert Earl Keen, “the party never ends and the road goes on forever.” That’s the beauty of propaganda, no? Even though Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader has come out and admitted that Iraq had nothing to do with 9.11, he and his minions had flogged that horse for so long that the message has become embedded as the truth for so many Americans. They can step back and admit their “mistake” in linking 9.11 and Iraq for lo, these many years, all the while knowing that they no longer need to stay “on message”. They’ve repeated the lie for so long that it has in fact become the truth for the majority of Americans unable or unwilling to question our leadership.

To illustrate this, all you had to do was to watch CNN yesterday morning. The Defense Department was good enough to supply CNN with taped greetings from soldiers in Iraq. Hey, it was Veteran’s Day, so who’s going to have a problem with that, right? That was true enough…until you looked at the backdrop, which was impossible to miss. The greetings from each individual soldier were filmed in front of a memorial in Baghdad that consisted of replicas of the Twin Towers. Coincidence? C’mon…is there ANYTHING that comes out of this administration that is even remotely coincidental? Not bloody likely….

Yes, the message may be dead, but the propaganda goes on forever…unwittingly reinforced by our men and women in uniform, who were probably told that they could film their greeting in front of the Twin Towers replicas…or not at all.

If there’s one thing that this administration understands the value of, it’s propaganda. When the medium IS the message, nothing is left to chance…and BushCo has proved itself exquisitely talented at managing and massaging the visuals for maximum propaganda value. Backdrops, camera angles, and even audiences are carefully vetted and selected to make certain that the message conveyed is consistent and unmistakable. So don’t be telling me that the Defense Department’s choice of a backdrop was coincidental. It was without a doubt chosen for maximum visual impact and propaganda value.

What really angers me is that DoD displays such a craven willingness to use our men and women in uniform in order to further their propaganda. Yes, the message may be dead, but the propaganda goes on forever. Especially when CNN aired the greeting without so much as a question about the appropriateness of the Twin Towers back drop.

WHAT LIBERAL MEDIA??

NOW can we impeach the lying bastard in the White House??
