Don't tell me you're surprised?

Bush takes exception to parts of report: He and some lawmakers shun suggestions on troop levels, talks with Iran, Syria

I thought we would succeed quicker than we did…I am disappointed by the pace of success.

  • Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader

Wow, that didn’t take long, did it? Let the cherry-picking begin. No reasonable, lucid person would have assumed that Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader would cave and accept the Iraq Study Group’s report wholesale. The retreat began almost immediately, and before long the report will be just more wasted paper in the back of a closet in the Oval Office. Nothing will change, and Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader will remain in his bubble, ever optimistic that inevitable victory is just around the corner. Meanwhile, our sons and daughters will continue dying horrific, pointless deaths.

Same as it ever was….

I can’t help but wonder what the purpose of the Iraq Study Group was…other than perhaps providing political cover for Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader (I’m bipartisanizing!!). While the members of ISG clearly took their work seriously, it’s equally clear that Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader has no intention of taking the report seriously. The ISG report presents a clear and coherent strategy for winding down our involvement in Iraq. As with most strategies, picking and choosing the parts of it you like will only leave mired in the same old clusterf—k.

I don’t think Jim Baker and Lee Hamilton expect us to accept every recommendation.

  • Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader

I hope we don’t treat this like a fruit salad and say, ‘I like this, but I don’t like that….This is a comprehensive strategy designed to deal with this problem we’re facing in Iraq.

  • James Baker

Right. Baker might think it’s a comprehensive strategy, but if you’re Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader, and you never had any intention of changing course…well, you can guess what’s going to happen. The sad thing is that Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader was willing to use an old family friend, James Baker to provide political cover. While I’ve never been a fan of Baker, he deserves better than to be tossed aside so cavalierly by a President who couldn’t carry his jock.

How many of our tax dollars were squandered on this exercise in futility? Wouldn’t it have been cheaper to just IMPEACH THE LYING BASTARD?
