Let us remember that we were not attacked by a nation on 9/11; we were attacked by extremists who acted in the name of the Islamic religion. I believe that if we do not stop illegal immigration totally, reduce legal immigration and end diversity visas, we are leaving ourselves vulnerable to infiltration by those who want to mold the United States into the image of their religion, rather than working within the Judeo-Christian principles that have made us a beacon for freedom-loving persons around the world.
- Rep. Virgil Goode (R-11th century)
You’d think that after demonstrating his bigotry and colossal ignorance for all to see, former DUMB@$$ AWARD and Virginia Republican Congressman Virgil Goode would want to lay low for awhile and let the media shit-storm blow over. Au contraire, mon ami. It would appear that Goode was merely getting started. It apparently wasn’t enough to accuse fellow Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN) of being anti-American for wanting to take the Congressional oath of office on a Koran.
Perhaps we should remember that 9.11 was wrought by a group of 19 zealots who used their twisted version of Islam to justify mass murder. This should NOT be taken as an indication that Islam is somehow responsible for 9.11 any more than Goode’s brand of radical, hateful Christianity was responsible for the Oklahoma City bombing.
When last I checked, America was still a country that professes to value diversity, that welcomes all faiths and creeds. If we allow people like Goode to wall off the border and turn out the lights on those who would look to us for the opportunity to make a better lives for themselves and their families, we will lose one of the things that has always made America unique.
Make no mistake about it; while Goode talks about illegal immigration, what he’s really trying to do is to find a way to convince Americans that the only effective way to protect this country is to keep out those who don’t look, think, act, and believe as we do. (That means you, Brown People!)
Only White Christians need apply….
(And isn’t it interesting that exactly one, yes, ONE Republican has had the moral courage to speak out against Goode’s racist lunacy? This should tell you everything about the Republican Party that you’ll ever need to know.)
