Once a mean-spirited, bigoted DUMB@$$....

CNN defends host’s use of the word “faggot” - network slammed by lead gay anti-defamation group

There are few things I find more reprehensible than a Conservative talking head who couches his bigotry and prejudice in terms of free speech and expression. Former (and very deserving) DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener and CNN resident Right-wing bigot Glenn Beck has managed to convince himself that he is the voice of the “regular guy”. Yep, Beck speaks for the “regular guy” who hates Muslims, thinks Liberals are the spawn of Satan, and has no problem tossing a few hateful bon mots when it serves his purpose. Not nearly as brilliant, witty, and erudite as he fancies himself- not by half- Beck seems to have no problem with smearing those he happens to disagree with. Whether it be asking Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) to “prove” that he’s not a terrorist, or defending the use of anti-gay slurs, Beck is willing to do or say whatever it takes to prop up his ratings…because it’s really all about his own self-aggrandizement.

So CNN is now defending its host, Glenn Beck, and his use of the word “faggot” on the air, AND his suggestion that the word isn’t very derogatory. Way to step in it even further, CNN. Faggot is the n-word to gays, and you think it’s appropriate? Does CNN permit the n-word on the air? And would they permit their hosts to suggest that it’s simply a “naughty name”? CNN has a host who is a loose cannon and who has already slurred Muslims, gays, and more. (Though, interestingly, I doubt CNN would let a host slur blacks or Jews, so apparently free speech has its limits even at CNN.) But rather than apologize, CNN defends their host who thinks the word “faggot” is appropriate for CNN, and who thinks the word “faggot” is simply a “naughty name.”

If Glenn Beck had used the term “nigger”, he would likely have been yanked off the air before the word had finished leaving his lips. If CNN had bothered to pay attention, they would have recognized that “faggot” is every bit as offensive to gays as “nigger” is to African-Americans. What CNN also apparently failed to realize is that the GLBT community is wealthy, organized, and willing to take action if circumstances call for it. In fact, there’s now a move to boycott advertisers who hawk their wares on Beck’s show…like Best Buy and Office Depot, f’rinstance.

Glenn Beck may think he has something to say, but the reality is that this knuckle-dragging troglodyte has nothing of any value to add to the public discourse. Perhaps a boycott might be an effective way to get that message across to him. It doesn’t bother me that I don’t agree with Beck’s politics. What does bother me is Beck’s willingness to ignore basic human decency when presenting an argument. If it takes boycotting his advertisers to make that point, so be it.

What a @#$%&(^ troll….
