Madonna Calls Panty-less Stars ‘Dreadful’
(Jan. 12) Madonna, who once gave David Letterman a pair of her underpants, had plenty to say on CBS’ “Late Show” Thursday about young Hollywood going commando….”I’ve been hearing these stories. It’s dreadful,” she said. “Honestly, I live in England and so, I get ‚Äö√Ñ√¨ I’m pretty cut off from a lot of these stories. I only read stuff about, or hear stuff about the Royal Family. And so I’ve come to New York and the first thing I hear is about everyone not wearing their underpants. What’s going on? … It’s freezing outside!”
OHMIGAWD…Madonna is turning into my mother….
For years, my mother and I had a running gag. I hated wearing t-shirts under my shirts, and whenever I’d try to leave the house, I’d be greeted with her telling me “You need to put on a t-shirt. You’ll catch a cold!” In hindsight, it was sage advice, not because of the whole “catch a cold” thing, but in the dead of winter in northern Minnesota, wearing another layer is never a bad idea. Now I always wear t-shirts, and I probably owe this bit of common sense to dear ol’ Mom.
Listening to Madonna rant about young Hollywood starlets going commando took me back about 35 years to my mother’s daily routine of vetting my sartorial trainwrecks.
Time was when Madonna stood for everything your parents ever warned you about…and then some. Now she’s become my mother (metaphorically speaking). I guess we all grow up eventually, eh??
