So the difference between this and porn would be...?

‘Factory’ is seen as fully unionized

Report: Sienna Miller’s ‘Factory Girl’ Sex Scenes the Real Thing

Sienna Miller and Hayden Christensen treat us to some utterly convincing lovemaking in their new movie, “Factory Girl.” And it’s no wonder: We hear the costars actually coupled on camera….”It’s not simulated,” an insider tells us. “They’re really doing it.”….In the movie, Miller plays doomed Andy Warhol prot‚àö¬©g‚àö¬© Edie Sedgwick. Christensen plays a folk rocker modeled after Bob Dylan.

I suppose it was only a matter of time, right? Perhaps it’s just the natural evolution of movie-making, when the line between porn and simulated movie sex becomes so blurred as to be indistinguishable. No longer do we as a movie-going audience have to feel deceived by conventional “tube-sock-on-the-dick” simulated sex. No longer do we have to sit through an actress faking an orgasm for the camera. No, those erect nipples are…well, erect for a reason.

If you look at the subject honestly, movie-making has been heading down this road for many years. Remember when you wouldn’t even hear the word “penis” in a movie? We’ve come a long way, baby. Or have we?

I’m no prude, and I have no real moral issues with pornography or the graphic portrayal of sex in cinema (after all, none of us would be here without sex), but I do mourn the death of the art of manipulating the audience’s collective imagination. Time was when we were left to imagine what was taking place during an intimate encounter. Now it’s right there in front of us, with nothing left to imagine. Is this a good thing? Who knows? I think it does take something away from the experience of seeing a movie, but hey, there’s also a plus side. Who needs to skulk around porn shops when there’s actually a plot to go along with your graphic, real sex in your neighborhood cineplex??
