There's stupid, there's dangerous...and there's dangerously stupid. Then there's Tom Tancredo

Tancredo pushes for border security

Tancredo: If They Nuke Us, Bomb Mecca

Council Bluffs, Ia. - Saying that illegal immigration has diluted the country’s patriotism, Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo advocated that border security be the nation’s top priority. He spoke during a visit Saturday with supporters in western Iowa….”We have a cult of multiculturalism. This is what permeates our society,” he said. Immigrants who come to the United States but refuse to assimilate by learning the language and following the laws water down what it means to be an American, he said….”It’s a cultural, political, linguistic tower of Babel,” he said. He favors eliminating incentives for immigrants to come to the United States and reducing the number of legal immigrants.

It would be difficult to do justice to the loony, foaming-at-the-mouth ramblings of former DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener and Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo. One might think that Tancredo, not exactly a household name in the current field of Presidential candidates, might be willing to say or do anything to attract attention and support. You might think that (and you’d probably be right), but Tancredo really is a White-makes-Right, Amerika uber Alles wingnut who thinks that Brown People are the source of all our problems. All we need to do is fence off the Mexican border and all our problems will be solved. Of course the fact that the Canadian border is a sieve seems not to even register with Tancredo…’cuz Canadians at least look and (sort of) talk like real (White) Americans do.

Instead of trying to legitimately address a multi-faceted problem, Tancredo, who once in all seriousness proposed bombing Muslim holy sites, thinks the problem of illegal immigration can be solved by turning the US into an armed, walled fortress. Jeez, why not just build a moat while you’re at it??

The congressman did not address the border with Canada, which is 4,000 miles long when including Alaska.

Well, of course he didn’t, because that’s a tough problem, which would require leadership and creative problem-solving…which, when you get right down to it, is just too damn much like real work. It’s SO much easier when you can just blame Brown People. Americans just LOVE easy solutions….

He said illegal immigrants are a drain on the nation’s health care, schools and other entitlement programs and he suggested doing away with bilingual education.

Tancredo seems to have no problem with the enforced creation of a permanent underclass in American society. After all, someone has to pick up our garbage and mow our lawns, right? Besides, since the underclass will be mostly Brown People, who @!#$&^% cares, anyway? If they deserved to be full, participating members of American society, they would have been born White. Gottaproblemwiddat??

Although Tancredo doesn’t have the national profile of more well-known Republican candidates such as former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani and Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain, he recently entered the spotlight tied to [this past Sunday’s] Super Bowl in Miami.

Tancredo referred to Miami as a “Third World country” because many of the city’s don’t speak English. That caught the ire of Miami Herald humor columnist Dave Barry.

As part of his jabs against the congressman, whom Barry referred to as a “xenophobic dimwit,” the columnist told readers to call Tancredo’s office for Super Bowl tickets.

Honestly, I think Barry might have been going easy on Tancredo. Referring to him as a “xenophobic dimwit” doesn’t begin to do justice to the depths of Tancredo’s arrogance and ignorance.

Tancredo is not a stupid man, but he seems stuck on the idea of finding simple solutions to complex problems. Building a fence from San Diego to Brownsville will NOT solve the problem of illegal immigration. It will NOT eliminate the fact that large portions of the economies of border states are dependent on and intertwined with a steady supply of cheap labor. It will NOT eliminate the reality that people illegal immigrants come to this country for the economic opportunities, as evidenced by the fact that Americans hire them by the droves to do the work they won’t do themselves.

Yes, illegal immigration is an issue in need of resolution, but simplistic, punitive, and ridiculously expensive “solutions” aren’t going to resolve anything. “Fortress Amerika”…is this how we want to be defined by the rest of the world? Surely, Rep. DUMB@$$ Tancredo knows this, but he’s smart enough to understand that, in order to be elected President, he’s going to have to stir the anger and emotions of Americans who would much rather react than think.

Hey, it worked for Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © ….
