Brit Hume On Walter Reed: ‚Äö√Ñ√≤It Looks Terrible’ For The Bush Administration, ‚Äö√Ñ√≤Which Is The Problem’

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #543: Brit Hume

This morning on Fox News Sunday, Brit Hume spoke about the Walter Reed scandal in entirely political terms, saying “the problem” is that it “looks terrible” for the administration. Hume called the neglect and deplorable conditions at the military hospital a “potential” political firestorm, but said that the “administration did what it did to try to get it over with, and it may well have succeeded.”….Hume suggested that if Democrats had not taken control of Congress in November’s election, the Bush administration would not have demanded resignations from the Army Secretary and the chief of Walter Reed. “This is an administration which is known or had been known for sticking by people even when they were embattled.”

You’ll notice that nowhere in Brit Hume’s remarks is there any mention of the effect that conditions at Walter Reed Army Medical Center have had on wounded American soldiers. No, the problem as far as Hume is concerned is the impact that the political fallout from this travesty will have on the Bush Administration. Yes, kids, what we have here is DUMB@$$ Americanus observed in his natural habitat, where he can bloviate in a partisan manner without having to worry about being attacked by DUMB@$$ Americanus’ natural predator, the dreaded Bloggerus Liberalus.

Of course, this being the Republican Propaganda Network Fox News Channel, Brit Hume is going to get a free pass, which just goes to show you how much Right-wing pundits REALLY love our troops, eh?

HUME: I think it tells you a lot about the effect of the last election and the political atmosphere in Washington. This is an administration which is known or had been known for sticking by people even when they were embattled. The idea that conditions at Walter Reed hospital, a hospital that is on its way out of business, had deteriorated, that’s probably one of the reasons they wanted to put it out of business. This is unfortunate. It looks terrible, which is the problem. The problem is that it looks as if this administration, which has sent troops into harm’s way, is now neglecting them when they’re injured and need care and help. But make no mistake about it, this was a ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ there was a potential political firestorm on Capitol Hill began to brew about this. The administration did what it did to try to get it over with, and it may well have succeeded.

Yeah, it would be nice to think that Hume might be able to spare a few words of outrage over the reality that some of our wounded soldiers have been expected to heal in a rat- and mold-invested hovel. it would be nice, but you can’t expect a chickenhawk (and a DUMB@$$) like Brit Hume to shed a tear for people simply doing their duty. Hey, they volunteered, and if they don’t like their lot in life, then maybe they should just go work at Home Depot or Burger King and leave the heavy lifting to the real heroes…like Brit Hume.
