Because with enough money you can buy the truth

Swift Boat Money Man Raising $ for Romney

First, it likely means a significant financial windfall for Romney’s campaign, as Perry carries one of the biggest financial sticks in a state full of them. Perry was the single largest political donor in Texas in 2006, giving $380,000 to Gov. Rick Perry’s (R) reelection campaign alone (the Perrys are not related). While Bob Perry will not be able to write Romney any more than a $2,300 check, his willingness to fund third-party groups could play a key role as the campaign heats up. Second, the Romney team is likely to paint Perry’s decision as a slap in the face to Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). Back in 2005, Perry cut a $4,200 check to McCain’s Senate reelection committee, which was subsequently transferred to McCain’s presidential exploratory committee. Now, it’s important to remember that McCain never claimed Perry as a formal backer for his presidential campaign, and the two would seem an unlikely pair given McCain’s advocacy for legislation that would severely curtail the political activities of 527 groups like Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

If there’s anything we should have learned from the 2004 Presidential election, it’s that if you have enough money you can define what the “truth” is. John Kerry? Well, we might have previously thought him a decorated Vietnam War hero, but Bob Perry’s money purchased enough truth to remove THAT veil of ignorance from our eyes, eh? Before 2004, I’d always thought that the Soviets were the experts on creating revisionist history that more actually reflects the desired truth. As it turns out, Kerry was just a Liberal coward who inflated his military experience and accomplishments in order to paint his Presidential aspirations and qualifications in a more positive light. Gee, who knew? If not for Bob Perry (who lives about four miles down the road in Nassau Bay) and the fine folks at Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, we never would have known the “truth” about John Kerry…and we’d be stuck with another bleeding-heart Librul in the White House.

The beautiful thing about 527 groups like Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, is that they’re not burdened by inconvenient things like truth or campaign finance laws. With enough money, they can create their own “truth”, and they’re beholden to no one, since most operate “independently” of the campaigns they’re supporting. Yeah, right….

If you think the Swift Boaters weren’t secretly collaborating with the Bush campaign, you’d best move over, ‘cuz I want a few hits off whatever it is you’ve been smoking. Bob Perry’s dirty money bought the whispering campaign that the Bushies couldn’t engage in themselves. Not surprisingly, it was devastatingly effective, because most of the American sheeple are quite comfortable with reacting as opposed to thinking critically…and voting Republican IS easier than thinking.

527 groups are able, and too often willing, to do the dirty work and the political hatchet jobs that the campaign organizations themselves are prohibited from doing. Groups like Swift Boat Veterans for Truth specialize in hatchet jobs, innuendo, whisper campaigns, and revisionist history. Fascists like Bob Perry, while operating within the letter of the law, could care less about the spirit of the law- because when you’re a Republican, it’s not about the truth. It’s about winning, and winning isn’t everything; it’s the ONLY thing.

STILL GLAD YOU VOTED REPUBLICAN??
