Plame Rails Senior Officials Over Leak
WASHINGTON (AP) - Valerie Plame, the CIA operative at the heart of a political scandal, told Congress Friday that senior officials at the White House and State Department “carelessly and recklessly” blew her cover to discredit her diplomat-husband. Plame, whose 2003 outing triggered a federal investigation, said she always knew her identity could be discovered by foreign governments….”It was a terrible irony that administration officials were the ones who destroyed my cover,” she told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
Rule #1 in Washington these days seems to be “Never piss off the chickenhawks.” Valerie Plame’s husband, Ambassador Joseph Wilson, did just that by questioning Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © and his rationale for going to war in Iraq. The White House exacted retribution by blowing Plame’s cover as an undercover CIA agent, thereby essentially ending her career.

Of all the mean-spirited, Machiavellian tactics engaged in by this Administration, this is perhaps the lowest depth yet reached. Can there be anything more cowardly, more dastardly than exacting revenge on a man by going after his wife? And yet this tactic is hardly out of character for a collection of neoConservative thugs who play the game of politics as though it were the zero-sum Washington equivalent of mudwrestling.
This Administration, whose operating mantra seems to be “By Any Means Necessary”, seemed to have no problem with ruining a woman’s career in order to teach her husband not to (&^% with BushWorld. In the end, they did ruin Valerie Plame’s career, and while I imagine she’d rather still be the anonymous spy untold thousands of our tax dollars help to train her to be, in the end she’s the one who will be laughing…all the way to the bank. What some are calling “PlameGate” may not bring down this sorry, corrupt excuse for an Administration, but it should help some sheeple see it for what it is- more concerned with advancing and protecting it’s own narrow agenda than in leading and governing this nation.
