Gore Also Using More Toilet Paper Than Most Americans
Interesting isn’t it, that when those who deny the existence of global warming want to make their case, they do so by doing whatever they can to tear down Al Gore? These folks seem to be incensed that Gore isn’t riding a bicycle everywhere and living off the land. OHIMGOD!! That g———n hypocrite Al Gore drives a vehicle that burns gasoline and gets only 45 MPG!! He lives in a house that uses electricity!! I’ll bet he even eats BEEF!! Oh, the humanity, Oh, the hypocrisy!!
OH, STFU, willya??
Yes, Al Gore, through his passion and commitment, is a large target, but expecting him to be the perfect, pristine embodiment of green virtue is simply unrealistic and horribly unfair. Of course, by focusing on the petty and the off-message, these folks do manage to deflect attention from the reality that global appears to be real. By tearing down Gore, the deniers can feel good about their own ignorance and complacency. Hey, if Al Gore isn’t perfect, why should I be??
Whether or not you believe in global warming, there can be little argument that reducing one’s carbon footprint is a good thing. Anything that can help to reduce an individual’s contribution to the creation of greenhouse gases can only be a positive thing. So why do so many of the global warming deniers go to such great lengths to tear down someone so passionate about the issue? Hmm…perhaps because they don’t want look at the possibility of having to change their own behavior? One person will not fix this problem, but the actions of one person can have an impact. If enough people follow suit…well, who knows what can happen?
Whether or not you happen to subscribe to Gore’s impassioned argument that global warming is real, wouldn’t it make sense to do what we can in order to make ourselves better stewards of the only home planet we’ll ever know? Of course, it’s certainly a whole lot easier to ridicule Al Gore.
Hey, it’s not easy being green….
