Liars, damn liars...and Tom DeLay

‘I don’t have my glasses on’ (with video goodness)

Matthews grilled DeLay about passages in his book where he apparently ripped into fellow corrupt Texan Dick Armey, eventually asking the Hammer about describing Armey as “drunk with ambition.” DeLay denied writing that. “I wrote that he was ‚Äö√Ñ√≤blinded by his ambition.’” Matthews starts flipping though the book and finds the “drunk with ambition” quote and reads it to Bug Man. And DeLay keeps denying it. Finally, Chris hands the book to Tom and tells him to read it himself. DeLay looks down, pauses, and says “I don’t have my glasses.”

I’m hardly a Chris Matthews fan; far from it. Nonetheless, I have to hand it to Matthews for calling perennial DUMB@$$ and serial prevaricator Tom DeLay and his lies and bullshit.

If there’s one thing that characterized DeLay’s 22-year reign of terror in Congress, it was the willingness to do and/or say whatever it took to advance his agenda. Truth is not an absolute in DeLay’s world, merely another talking point to be massaged to present himself and his Right-wing, faith-based pogrom in the most positive light. Tom DeLay is to Truth and Christianity what Jeffrey Dahmer was to vegetarianism.

To call DeLay a liar would hardly begin to do justice to the depths of his depravity. Here’s a man willing to wrap himself in the holy white light of flag and faith while channelling Niccolo Machiavelli when the cameras were turned off and the reporters enjoying happy hour. Tom DeLay is man devoid of honor, integrity, and any sense that there are other points of view beside his own. What a (&^%$#@ troll. What a miserable, sorry excuse for a human being….
