Lies, damn lies...and Alberto Gonzales

Documents Show Gonzales Approved Firings

Gonzales approved the firings. He lied.

Gonzales Approved Firings Of U.S. Attorneys

Last week, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said he was not involved in any discussions about the impending dismissals of U.S. attorneys. On Friday night, however, the Justice Department revealed Gonzales’ participation in a Nov. 27 meeting where such plans were discussed. The firings of eight prosecutors has since led to a political firestorm and calls for his ouster. At that meeting, the attorney general and at least five top Justice Department officials discussed a five-step plan for carrying out the firings of the prosecutors, Gonzales’ aides said late Friday. There, Gonzales signed off on the plan, which was drafted by his chief of staff, Kyle Sampson. Sampson resigned last week…. The five-step plan approved by Gonzales involved notifying Republican home-state senators of the impending dismissals, preparing for potential political upheaval, naming replacements and submitting them to the Senate for confirmation. Six of the eight prosecutors who were ultimately ordered to resign are named in the plan.

It’s an accepted fact that money is the mothers milk of politics. For the Bush Administration, money may be mother’s milk, but lies and propaganda are the lifeblood of their agenda. To put it mildly, these people lie like you and I draw breath. It’s automatic, it’s reflexively, and it seems to be the easiest thing in the world. All this from people working for a man who pledged to “restore honor and dignity to the White House”.

Mission Accomplished”, eh?? So, tell me…how’s that “restore honor and dignity to the White House” thing working out for you?? Yes, Bill Clinton was hardly the fount of honesty and integrity, but at least none died when he lied. I’m sorry y’all, but getting your Presidential pole greased and then trying to hide it is NOT more morally reprehensible than lying from the time you get up in the morning until your head hits your pillow at night.

Alberto Gonzales is now heavily invested in trying to save his boss and his job, in spite of a growing mountain of evidence that indicates that he not only knew of plans to fire eight US Attorneys deemed insufficiently politically reliable, but that he signed off on the plans. As recently as March 12th, Gonzales was steadfastly denying any involvement in, or knowledge of, any plans to remove US Attorneys who wouldn’t play ball with the Bushies. Now a growing paper trail is revealing that Gonzales is a bald-faced liar. If this isn’t an indication of his unfitness to continue to serve as Attorney General, I don’t know what is. Of course, in BushWorld, lying is hardly a crime. Realistically, it can only be described as a cost of doing business. If the ends justify the means, then you must be a Bush Republican…because you clearly checked your integrity at the door in November, 2000.

Alberto Gonzales is a (&^%$#@ liar, and, as it turns out, so is most of BushWorld. When the means justify the ends, when checks and balances go out the window, when government loses it’s moral compass, you get exactly the quality of leadership we’re saddled with until January 20, 2009.

Nice going, eh? STILL GLAD YOU VOTED REPUBLICAN??

Say goodbye, ‘Berto; it’s time to go…because WE DESERVE BETTER than your sorry, lying DUMB@$$.
