With Alberto Gonzales’ grilling testimony before Congress scheduled for today, it appears that the Attorney General is in full “save-my-butt” mode. Having learned the hard way that trying to remain above the fray is both a useless and futile strategy, he now seems to be opting for the full-frontal mea culpa, as evidenced by the numerous and effusive apologies contained within his already-released opening statement. The only thing missing is the offer to commit ritual suicide, which, frankly, I’d be all for. if nothing else, that would certainly remove the necessity for Democrats to continue demanding his resignation, eh?
