Another day in (something reasonably close to) Paradise

Well, it’s a good news/bad news kind of day. The bad news is that it’s my birthday, and I’m down with a migraine. The good news is that it’s my birthday, and I’m not at work…because I’m down with a migraine. Talk about a mixed blessing, eh??

Of course, it’s also “non-stop, wall-to-wall coverage of the Virginia Tech massacre” day. The theme seems to be “we ain’t got much hard information, but we’re a 24/7 news operation, so we’ll devote our 24/7 to telling you we ain’t got much information.” I suppose this sort of thing is inevitable in a tragedy like this, but there are a whole lot of people getting their 15 minutes for all the wrong reasons.

Then again, if I was smart, I’d stop whining and turn off the television…. Since we apparently don’t subscribe to the Graphic Sex & Violence Network, there’s surprising little on daytime television. Whodathunkit??

If anyone needs me, I’m going to be asleep in my recliner. Leave a message at the beep….
