Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

Today’s Krauthammer Column Inspired by Little Green Alien Only He Can See

Which Is ‘The Real War’?

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #558: Charles Krauthammer

Thought experiment: Bring in a completely neutral observer ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ a Martian ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ and point out to him that the United States is involved in two hot wars against radical Islamic insurgents. One is in Afghanistan, a geographically marginal backwater with no resources and no industrial or technological infrastructure. The other is in Iraq, one of the three principal Arab states, with untold oil wealth, an educated population, an advanced military and technological infrastructure that, though suffering decay in the later years of Saddam Hussein’s rule, could easily be revived if it falls into the right (i.e., wrong) hands. Add to that the fact that its strategic location would give its rulers inordinate influence over the entire Persian Gulf region, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the Gulf states. Then ask your Martian: Which is the more important battle? He would not even understand why you are asking the question.

It’s difficult for me to wrap my head around an intellectual exercise THAT REVOLVES AROUND TALKING TO A (&^%$#@ MARTIAN, ya know what I mean? Don’t start off pretending that you’re engaging in some sort of intellectual exercise by insulting my intelligence.

It’s hard to know where to start with the fallacies in Krauthammer’s argument. Is he really so willing to verbally fellate The Worst President EVER © that he can simply gloss over the facts that existed when the war in Iraq started? The real war WAS (and remains) in Afghanistan. After, this is where those responsible for 9.11 were tracked to, and if Sir Bombs-a-lot © had an ounce of moral courage, he would have prosecuted the war in Afghanistan with alacrity and concentrated on bringing those responsible to justice or to their date with 72 virgins.

Instead, we find ourselves embroiled in a clustef—k in Iraq. Four years and 3000+ American lives later, four years after “Mission Accomplished” and “the end of major combat operations”, we’re for all intents and purposes at exactly the same place we were in May, 2003. Regardless of the lies, the propaganda, and the packaging/marketing of the war in Iraq, we’re mired in an unwinnable war, a war that never was and never will be about terrorism. Afghanistan was about terrorism. Iraq? Well, I still don’t know what in the Hell that’s all about. Oil, Saddam, global hegemony- there are many reasons why we invaded and remain in Iraq. None of those reasons have ANYTHING to do with terrorism. I don’t care how many smirking speeches Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © gives; there’s nothing he can say that can override the lies, the propaganda and the bait-and-switch sales job that was used to convince Americans that the REAL war was in Iraq.

I’m disturbed and disappointed that a (formerly, at least) well-respected journalist such as Krauthammer could be such a DUMB@$$ and a willing apologist and shill for the lies that continue to be put forth by this Administration.

The real war is in Iraq? Well, if you can ignore the reality that there WAS NO TERRORIST THREAT IN IRAQ until after the American invasion, and if you can gloss over the fact that we’re fighting a terrorist threat created by The Worst President EVER © and his illegal war…well, then I suppose the real war is in Iraq. However, if you value truth and if you have even a minimally functiuonal grip on reality, you’ll understand and admit that the war against terrorism is, was, and should continue to be in Afghanistan. That Krauthammer could defend this sorry excuse for a President is beyond reprehensible and truly an action worthy of a DUMB@$$ AWARD.

The Democratic insistence on the primacy of Afghanistan makes no strategic sense. Instead, it reflects a sensibility. They would rather support the Afghan war because its origins are cleaner, the casus belli clearer, the moral texture of the enterprise more comfortable. Afghanistan is a war of righteous revenge and restitution, law enforcement on the grandest of scales. As senator and presidential candidate Joe Biden put it, “If there was a totally just war since World War II, it is the war in Afghanistan.”

If our resources are so stretched that we have to choose one front, the Martian would choose Iraq. But that is because, unlike a majority of Democratic senators, he did not vote four years earlier to authorize the war in Iraq, a vote for which many have a guilty conscience to be soothed retroactively by pulling out and fighting the “totally just war.”

Uh, no, Chuck…If our resources are so stretched that we have to choose one front… do you really think we’d be talking to a (&^%$#@ Martian? And, by the way, this has nothing to do with casus belli, or the notion of a “just war”. This is about FIGHTING THE WAR AGAINST TERRORISM. Iraq, no matter how much you might try to convince yourself otherwise, has nothing to do with terrorism. It’s about an illegal war of aggression against a sovereign for reasons of propaganda, lies, revenge, and…oh, yeah…OIL.

Those of us on the Left are demanding an end to an immoral, wasteful, and senseless war that continues using up American resources (that could be used to…oh, I don’t know…rebuild New Orleans??) and wasting young American lives FOR NO GOOD REASON. If Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © were serious about the war against terrorism, he would have prosecuted the war in Afghanistan with conviction and until the mission really was accomplished.

The American sheeple have been sold a bill of goods by this President and this Administration, and it’s DUMB@$$ pundits like Charles Krauthammer who are responsible for continuing to peddle their propaganda virtually unfiltered and unexamined.

Oh…and the next time you want to engage in an intellectual exercise, how ‘bout finding something that doesn’t involve talking to a Martian?

Jeebus, what a DUMB@$$….
