But he did get some valuable face time on the news, eh?

McCain’s Baghdad Market Photo-Op Kills 21 People

Presidential hopeful McCain visits Baghdad market

The latest massacre of Iraqi children came as 21 Shia market workers were ambushed, bound and shot dead north of the capital. The victims came from the Baghdad market visited the previous day by John McCain, the US presidential candidate, who said that an American security plan in the capital was starting to show signs of progress.

What does it say about a Presidential candidate when he is so desperate for attention and press coverage that he takes his act on the road to Baghdad, where he tours a market accompanied by an almost unprecedented security entourage? And what does it say when insurgents make their own statement 24 hours later by killing 21 workers in that same market? Well, clearly neither John McCain nor the insurgents place much value on human life. McCain is more interested in his own self-aggrandizement, and Iraqi insurgents are trying to make whatever political statement it is that they’re trying to make. Both are reprehensible in their approach, and irresponsible given the results they leave behind.

The truly frightening aspect of this tragedy is that McCain will probably be arrogant enough to see the attack on the market as an attack on him. Instead of recognizing the reality that insurgents are likely trying to strike a blow that will be noticed by the American public, McCain and his campaign will no doubt spin this in a manner to make the candidate look like some sort of (&^%$#@ hero.

Yeah…who says we’re not getting the good news from Iraq??
