Paris’ pardon plea laughed out of governor’s office
Los Angeles (eCanadaNow) - Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton is appealing to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to pardon her for driving with a suspended licence and quash the 45-day jail sentence she is due to begin next month. On a posting on her MySpace website, Hilton, the star of the reality TV show the simple life, urged fans to sign a petition asking Schwarzenegger to reverse the sentence handed down in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday…. “I urge all fans and supporters and all that are outraged by injustice to sign this petition,” writes Hilton.
Yes, nothing says “I’m a rich, spoiled heiress and a world-class DUMB@$$” quite like this move by Paris Hilton. I don’t even know what she was convicted of, or even what part of her probation she violated in order to earn her 45-day jail sentence. What’s more is that I couldn’t care less. What does intrigue me about the whole scenario is the “I’m rich, therefore I’m above the law” attitude that Hilton seems to view as her birthright.
Apparently being rich, beautiful, and well-connected has served Ms. Hilton well over the course of her charmed life. Sometimes, though, even the Beautiful People have to be held accountable. Rather than whining about her fate and attempting to use her fame, wealth, and connections in order to skate, perhaps it’s about time she owned up to having to pay the price for whatever her particular legal faux pas happens to be.
Of all the spoiled, over-exposed, under-talented, far-more-money-than-sense manufactured celebrities, I think that Paris Hilton tires me the most. Outside of being born fabulously wealthy, and having the business acumen necessary to capitalize on her physical attractiveness, I can’t think of a single positive thing she has to offer society. If she violated her probation, she needs to pay the price like any other miscreant.
Go to jail. Do not pass go, do not collect $200…go directly to jail. And stop your self-absorbed whining, willya? Or are you really trying to convince your adoring public that you’re little more than a rich, beautiful, spoiled DUMB@$$?
