Lindsey Graham: Escalation Critics Are Calling The Troops ‘Losers’
[Yesterday] on CNN, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said Bush’s Iraq critics are calling the troops losers. “Let’s don’t undercut [Bush’s escalation plan],” he said. “Let’s don’t declare this war lost because you’re telling all these soldiers and Petraeus that they’re losers.”…. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) immediately ripped into Graham’s characterization, stating, “I don’t know anyone who opposes this war that ever said our troops are losers. Our troops are winners.”…. Boxer continued, “Lindsey, just be careful what you say. The bottom line here is that the losers are the ones who have engineered this war, made a huge mistake ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ Dick Cheney we’re in the last throes, the war will last six months ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ and all of you who have supported this escalation and have turned us away from fighting al Qaeda into putting us in the middle of a civil war.”
It’s amazing the lengths that Republicans like Lindsey Graham will go to assist in massaging the Administration’s propaganda that progress is being made in Iraq, and victory is just around the country- if only we’ll just give Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader’s © surge a chance to work. Yeah, if not for our Liberal defeatism, things in Iraq would be just. Baghdad would be a Shining City on a Hill. Peace and happiness would reign, and contented families would be picnicking in Baghdad’s parks. If only we’d stop whining.
What really aggravates me is when DUMB@$$E$ like Graham twist the argument of those who oppose the illegal and immoral war in Iraq by accusing us of not supporting the troops. Right; so anything less than unwavering devotion to and support of Commander Codpiece’s © failed Iraq policy must be defined as treasonously giving aid and comfort to the enemy? Can there be anything more offensive than being told that opposing a war that’s wasting the lives of our sons and daughters is giving aid and comfort to those who want to kill our sons and daughters?
No one is telling our sons and daughters or Gen. David Petraeus that they’re losers. What we are saying is that those who have placed them in such an untenable position are losers. Those self-absorbed, lying thugs who’ve propagandized their way into a war that has nothing to do with 9.11 or the war against terrorism are losers. The Worst President EVER © and Vice-President Dick Cheney are losers (and war criminals). And Lindsey Graham is a loser and a DUMB@$$ for trading in propaganda and talking points, twisting the debate over the war in Iraq so that the Administration and it’s apologists don’t have to debate the war on it’s merits.
