Back in the saddle again....

He’s BAAAAACK! Yes…tanned, rested, and ready, we’re back home in Seabrook, and I still have two days before I have to be back at work. Life is good, no??

After being in our nation’s capitol for five days, I can safely say that, unless you’re independently wealthy, Washington, DC is probably not the place for you. Then again, if you’re a political junkie, DC is hog heaven. It’s smaller than New York, the pace of life is less frenetic than New York, and the subway system is cleaner and more efficient than New York. Of course, being a company town, DC has much less to offer in the way of entertainment than New York. Life is full of trade-offs, no? At least both cities have NHL teams.

There’s something I find intoxicating about being at the political center of our nation. Between the history and the politics, DC is a place that absolutely fascinates me. I wouldn’t mind living there, but I don’t make that kind of money. Nonetheless, for a political junkie like me, it doesn’t get much better than DC….

It was great to see Adam and Eric again. Adam is very happy with his job at the Human Rights Campaign, Eric is hoping to intern at HRC this summer, and I’m enjoying watching them grow into productive, independent adults. Of course, She Who Endures My Myriad Eccentricities © isn’t enjoying the fact that her babies want to be so far from home….

Still and all, it’s good to be home. Now, if you’ll excuse me, there’s a cup of coffee calling my name….
