Greetings from Hollywood for Ugly People!

Jeebus, you’d think that if you’re going to pay $250 (plus tax!) for a friggin’ hotel room, you’d get better than a room next to a commuter train track and boasting a majestic view of…well, I’m not quite certain what. Is that a parking lot or just where the local crack dealers come to do business?

Then again, this is Washington, DC, one of the strangest, most overpriced and underperforming towns imaginable. Ain’t NUTHIN’ cheap (except Potbellys’s…FANTASTIC sandwiches for only $3.99) ‘round these parts.

I don’t know if any of y’all have seen the Hotels.com commercial where a couple is checking into their hotel room. The guy looks around, says “It sure is quiet here!”, then goes out onto the balcony- only to realize they’ve got an expansive view of the local cemetery. Yep, that pretty well sums up the Holiday Inn Capitol at 6th and C in downtown Washington. ‘Course, it’s two beds and a shower, and we ARE on vacation…so how bad can it really be? I could be at work, right?

The good thing is that it’s been 20 years since I’ve been here, and I’ve already got the Metro figured out. Now, it’s time to scout around for some Thai food. Later….
