Party Unfaithful: The Republican implosion
Lest any of y’all forget what a complete and utter DICK Tom DeLay is, I’m here to remind you. Yes, we can all be grateful that The Hammer is no longer in office, but if anything DeLay is even more pompous, arrogant, and self-righteous than he ever was in office. I wasn’t sure that was even possible, but the man consistently surprises me. Just when I think he couldn’t POSSIBLY be any more arrogant, self-righteous, and holier-than-thou…well, let’s just say that DeLay consistently exceeds expectations.
Ultimately, and most frighteningly, DeLay could well, be more destructive and dangerously partisan OUT of office than he ever was when he represented my district in Congress. He no longer answers to the voters, and he’s free to be even more overbearing, arrogant, and self-righteously intolerant than ever. Man, if Tom DeLay’s a Christian, then I’m Paris Hilton. It’s entirely possible he could become the de facto voice of God’s Own Party as the religious wing of the GOP struggles to become even more self-righteous and uber-religious than ever.
When you’ve sunk to the level of accusing a fellow Republican of engaging in a “worse” sort of adultery than you, it doesn’t take a Ph.D. to figure out that the GOP is circling the drain…and if you hear snickering, that would be me. I’m sorry, but adultery is adultery. There are no “degrees” of adultery; if you’re sleeping around on your spouse, the details don’t really matter- nor should they.
Oh, and it gets better. DeLay also apparently has a direct line to Almighty God, who, as it turns out is a Conservative Republican:
DeLay says that when, in the coming years, he is not fighting the indictment in Texas (he insists that he is not guilty) he will be building a conservative grass-roots equivalent of MoveOn.org. “God has spoken to me,” he said. “I listen to God, and what I’ve heard is that I’m supposed to devote myself to rebuilding the conservative base of the Republican Party, and I think we shouldn’t be underestimated.”
Some of us here on Planet Earth listen to God as well (not me, necessarily)…and he’s telling us that DeLay quite likely needs to have his medication adjusted or changed altogether. I’m thinking Thorazine myself. The side effects alone outght to keep him occupied and out of trouble for some time.
Jeebus, what a hopelessly arrogant dickweed….
