Number of Americans who believe Saddam-9/11 tie rises to 41 percent
A new Newsweek poll out this weekend exposed “gaps” in America’s knowledge of history and current events. Perhaps most alarmingly, 41% of Americans answered ‘Yes’ to the question “Do you think Saddam Hussein‚Äôs regime in Iraq was directly involved in planning, financing, or carrying out the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001?”…. That total is actually up 5 points since September 2004. Further, a majority of people couldn’t identify Saudia Arabia as the country of origin of most of the 9/11 hijackers, even given the question in multiple choice format. 20% answered Iraq, while 14% believed the hijackers came from Iran.

OK, y’all…repeat after me: PEOPLE…AM…STOOPID. Jeebus, what a collection of (&^%$#@ mindless sheep we are….
Just when I’d almost forgotten just how overwhelmingly sheep-like and incapable of forming their own decisions the vast majority of the American sheeple are, this story comes along. Once again, I’m amazed at the sheer depth of the willful, wanton stupidity displayed by most Americans when it comes to matters of public policy. I can understand that most people aren’t as interested in politics as I am, but would it hurt to at least pay attention? Would it be so tough to be at least well-informed enough so you wouldn’t unquestioningly swallow this Administration’s propaganda wholesale?
One of the reasons that Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © and his neoConservative thugs have been so successful is that the vast majority of Americans just simply don’t care. They don’t care enough to think about what’s being done in their name. They don’t care that they’re being lied to. They don’t care that they’re being fed propaganda and talking points. Unless something impacts them directly and personally, they simply cannot be bothered to think critically about what’s happening outside of their narrow little world.
Of course, the majority of the American Sheeple may not realize it, but they ARE being impacted directly by the policies and propaganda of perhaps the most venal and mean-spirited Administration in this nation’s history. Anyone who puts gas in their car, which is to say all of us, is impacted directly AND personally by what their vote has helped to enable.
Let’s face it y’all…we’re a nation of sheep. It’s been said that a people gets exactly the quality of leadership they deserve, and nowhere is this more true than America today. A stupid, inarticulate, immature leader for a stupid, inarticulate, immature people. That may seem harsh, but you can’t argue that it isn’t true.
When the 72% of y’all who say you don’t suppont King George the Worst © start bitching and moaning about The Worst President EVER © , try to keep in mind that most of y’all voted for him- TWICE. When you start looking for someone to blame, try looking in the mirror.

Well, there you go again Jack: blaming us for disapproving of Bush. Yes, that is exactly what you did. Read what you wrote: you called us individually guilty ("try looking in the mirror": your exact words) for the actions of a group, and your sole inclusion criterion is being in the 72% that disapprove of Bush. Go review your high school logic: you just pointed the finger at yourself. By your very own logic, you probably voted for Bush, and you should "try look in the mirror" to see what's wrong with the US these days.
You imagine that most of the 72% who disapprove of Bush now voted for Bush? No. Of course, most of the 72% that now disapprove of Bush voted AGAINST Bush before. The math isn't even that hard. Subtract the vast majority of hard-core neocons and religious rightists from both the 28% of current Bush supporters and from the 51% of Bush voters. Now, what's the range of possible voting percentages for the non-Bush-supporting 72%? Sigh. Right, necessarily a majority of votes against Bush. Please stop claiming the opposite of the truth.
And beyond that, you pretend that I need to "look in the mirror" because of how *you* and others voted in private? No. You and I have not even one atom of responsibility for the votes of millions of people we don't even know. You need stop lying by pretending that we do.
Finally, there's your piece de resistance, your WMD of logic: even *if* everything you wrote were true, then with you yourself being a core member of the 72% you cite, YOU are at least as guilty as anyone else in the 72%--(hey, Jack, "try looking in the mirror!"). Meaning that, from the outset, you are rejecting moral authority to write on the subject.
Beyond that, I guess all that lying about others' voting records is just your extra gift to the GOP.
You can do better.
Look, my comment just above looks angrier on the screen than I really meant. I take back its tone.
But the content stays. Jack's post and its conclusion were unprovoked and ill-considered attacks on those who share his politics (including me), and this is not the first time. It needs to stop, please.
We're getting called traitors often enough, without suffering random friendly fire, too.
