Greetings from...uh...Paradise...yeah, Paradise....

Texas. We’re Number 49!

It’s official. Texas worst place to live in US.

So, let’s review, Texas has the highest rates for home insurance, 25% higher than 2nd place Louisiana. (See The Most Expensive States To Insure Your Home 2005 by Forbes Magazine.) Deregulation of electricity has resulted in skyrocketing electricity costs instead of more competition that would reduce our rates, as promised. College education costs have soared by an average of 39% in just one short year once again as a result of deregulation. And now we are 49th in the nation for healthcare. All we need now is giant blood sucking mosquitos.

Leave it to John Cobarruvias to highlight what makes Texas such a (&^%$#@ disgrace. Yeah, I know. It’s a tired joke, but it really is true. In so many respects, Texas’ unofficial state motto really is THANK GOD FOR MISSISSIPPI (AND ALABAMA)!! Texas is the state which, though not the birthplace of the concept, certainly has been the most fertile breeding ground for “I got mine, you get your own” Conservatism. Hey, If you want money, do it the old fashion way. Go into business for yourself. It’s all about the entrepreneurial spirit, eh?

The sad thing is that Texas really does have so much to offer. Unfortunately concern for the common good, selflessness, and altruism aren’t among those offerings. ‘Course, if you want your government to just leave you alone and put the Brown people in their place…well, Texas is a good place to be, pardner? Do you support Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © and his pretend war against terrorism in Iraq? Do you hate Brown People because they take jobs from good, God-fearing White folk? Are you tired of Christians being persecuted by the Liberal Media? Are you tired of your tax dollars going to support the indigent, the underpaid, and the sick…Hell, they’re all Libruls, anyway, right?? Do you want to live in a place where a man’s home is his castle and his women are property? Well, pardnuh, the door’s ALWAYS open here in God’s Country.

Oh, and John? About those giant blood-sucking mosquitoes. You really ought to come spend an evening in my back yard. They’re already here…. :O)
