Gingrich Forecasts GOP Losses in 2008

WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican Newt Gingrich, in a jab at President Bush, warned on Friday that the GOP will lose the White House and Congress in 2008 if the nominee is perceived as a continuation of the Bush presidency. Addressing a conservative organization, the former House Speaker never mentioned the president by name, but his political point was clear…. “If the Republicans run a stand-pat presidential candidate who ends up being on defense for all of September and October and who is seen by the country as representing four more years, the fact is that Republicans are not going to” win, Gingrich told the American Enterprise Institute. Gingrich, a former Georgia congressman, is considering a White House run, with an announcement likely in the fall.

You’ll see me agreeing with ANYTHING three-time multiple DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener Newt Gingrich has to say about as often as flying pigs violate Saudi Arabian airspace. In this case, though, he’s largely correct. If the GOP is stupid and arrogant enough to put forward a nominee in 2008 who represent s a continue of Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © , they’re going to get their asses handed to them…and deservedly so.

The problem from where I sit (besides the overarching arrogance and ignorance of reality) is that Republicans far are more concerned with ideology than governance. It’s all about political power and control and the ability to enforce their narrow theology and world view than in the day-to-day nuts and bolts of governing this country.

For six years, a Republican Congress functioned as a rubber stamp for The Worst President EVER’s © illegal and immoral war in Iraq. They stood by while King George the Worst © acted as if the war against terrorism needed to be prosecuted in Iraq. Never mind the fact that the terrorists were in Afghanistan (and that there was no terrorist threat extant in Iraq until WE created one); Commander Codpiece © ; we were lied to and propagandized until we agreed to stand by mutely as we invaded a country that played no role in the 9.11 attacks. And then more than 54 million sheeple voted to re-elect the war criminal. Who says we don’t get EXACTLY the quality of leadership we deserve?

Republicans have enabled and championed the conduct of an immoral war that to date has claimed- and wasted- over 3,500 American lives. Welcome to this generation’s Vietnam, brought to you by a Republican Congress that failed to do it’s job and for some reason treated Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © as if he’s some sort of hero. If Republicans in Congress had been doing the job they were elected to do, there would be far fewer dead Americans, and King George the Worst © would be defending himself during an impeachment hearing. Now not even the Democratic leadership in Congress has the balls to discuss impeachment.

He has roundly criticized the Bush administration in recent interviews, describing the White House as dysfunctional and saying the president has driven the party into collapse. While he refrained from direct criticism Friday, he cited failures in Iraq, border security and the response to Hurricane Katrina as signs of a broken government.

His comments come just days after a Republican presidential debate in which GOP candidates criticized Bush over his handling of the Iraq war, his diplomatic style and his approach to immigration.

The biting words surprisingly have been uttered while the president is overseas attending an economic summit with other world leaders….

Gingrich, who helped shut down government over spending fights with the Clinton administration in the 1990s, said Republicans must offer a more dramatic platform for remaking government that focuses on private-sector innovation.

Gingrich is spot-on about the reasons for the GOP’s demise, but if he’s thinking that he’s the answer to their dilemma…well, the man’s got bigger problems than I’d suspected. Of course, when you possess an ego the size of the state of Georgia, this is the sort of self-serving, self-aggrandizing behavior one could reasonably expect.

Honestly, Gingrich deserves yet another DUMB@$$ AWARD, but three is enough, and I’m frankly tired of his shtick. He’s a DUMB@$$, and nothing is going to change that…so why continue recognizing and “honoring” that sort of self-serving silliness?

Of course, if more than 54 million of y’all would vote for The Worst President EVER © in 2004, why NOT Newt Gingrich? It’s not like y’all possess much in the way of standards.
