A few weeks ago, I wrote about “going to war” against Bailiff, not in the sense that we wished him any harm, but we needed to show him who’s Boss. Well, Bailiff has finally just plain worn us down, and it’s with so small degree of regret that I’m having to admit that we’re going to need to find him a new home. I love Bailiff, but it’s become clear that what he needs in a home is something that we simply cannot provide. Combine that with the fact that that our Tibetan Terrier, Salem, cannot STAND Bailiff, and…well, you can probably imagine the rest. In a 1700 sq. ft. house it’s like WWIII day in and day out. Bailiff just wants to be friends, Salem will have none of it, and when she makes her displeasure known, it sounds as if someone’s about to be eviscerated.
Bailiff needs a home with a lot of space. He also needs a situation in which someone is home with him most all of the day. He’s rambunctious, energetic, and needy…and we quite honestly aren’t home during the day to play with him. When we get home we’re often too tired to deal with a over-amped 55-lb. puppy who’s been crated all day. He deserves better than what we can offer, and I think someone who has the space, the patience, and the energy will find that Bailiff can be a wonderful companion.
Bailiff is a Chocolate Labradoodle, and puppies like him can go for as much as $2500. Amazing, I know, but there are a lot of people gaga over what seems to be the hot dog breed du jour. Bailiff attracts a LOT of attention, and yes, he’s a major chick magnet. When I’m walking him, we get a lot of double takes and more than a few vehicles slowing down to get a lot. I have to keep reminding myself that they’re not checking me out…as if. No, it’s all about Bailiff…and the ladies love him.
If any of y’all would like a new companion, or if you know someone who might, let me know. This is not an easy thing for me to do, but in my heart I know that this is the right thing for Bailiff…and for us. Three large, energetic dogs in this tiny little house is just too much…and poor Salem is just about at her wit’s end.
