Much of US favors Bush impeachment: poll
Nearly half of the US public wants President George W. Bush to face impeachment, and even more favor that fate for Vice President Dick Cheney, according to a poll out Friday. The survey by the American Research Group found that 45 percent support the US House of Representatives beginning impeachment proceedings against Bush, with 46 percent opposed, and a 54-40 split in favor when it comes to Cheney…. The White House declined to comment on the poll, the latest bad news for a president who has seen his public opinion standings dragged to record lows by the unpopular war in Iraq.
It would appear that the American sheeple are finally beginning to rouse themselves from their slumber…though it’s taken more than six years. Yeah, I know; let it never be said that the American sheeple are an inquisitive or observant lot.
Though my admiration for the American sheeple could hardly be lower, even I have to applaud us for owning up to what has been blindingly obvious for quite some time now: Our Glorious and Benevolent © is a lying, inept, corrupt war criminal who should be held responsible for the senseless deaths of more than 3500 (and counting) young Americans in Iraq. In addition, he’s turning the federal government over to a cabal of self-righteous and self-interested dominionist theocrats who believe the separation of Church and State is quaint notion that isn’t part of God’s plan (insofar as THEY define God’s plan).
What disturbs about this situation is how far the American sheeple are out in from of Democrats in Congress. Though growing numbers of Americans are coming to realize that impeachment may well be the only way out of this long national nightmare, the Democratic leadership in Congress continues to insist that they have no plans to impeach this sorry excuse for a President. Then again, these are the same folks who sat on their hands when Bill Clinton was impeached by Republicans for getting a blowjob from a White House intern.
Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi clearly have their own agendas, but at some point they’re going to need to recognize and understand that normally somnolent and self-absorbed Americans are far ahead of them on this issue. We’re tired of being lied to, we’re tired of being exploited for the gain and self-aggrandizement of a few mean-spirited, intolerant religious zealots, and we’re tired of our sons and daughters coming home from Iraq in boxes.
