Bush Equals Nixon’s Highest Disapproval
[T]oday Bush reached a historic milestone. His current disapproval rating in the latest Gallup poll, 66%, equals Richard Nixon’s highest Gallup disapproval rating of 66%, registered the week before he resigned from office. Back then, Gallup was the only organization conducting presidential approval polls, and thus the Gallup poll is always taken as the gold standard for historical comparisons. this figure also puts Bush only 1% away from the all-time highest disapproval, set by Harry Truman in early January, 1952.
Perhaps it’s the lies. Perhaps it’s the propaganda. Perhaps it’s the intolerant, self-righteous, dominionist theocratic agenda. Who knows? It might even be the clusterf—k that has become the war in Iraq. Whatever the reason, Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © has truly and powerfully managed to stake his claim to the title of Worst President EVER © . This is no small feat, given some of the mental and moral midgets that have taken up space in the Oval Office. King George the Worst © has a special claim to fame, in that not only did he steal one election (2000), he somehow managed to propagandize more than 54 million sheeple into voting for him AGAIN in 2004. Whatever it takes, man…whatever it takes.
The good news for The Decider © …if it can even be called that…is that he still has 18 months left in office. There are still depths to which he can sink, laws he can ignore (and.or violate outright), monarchical privileges he can claim…and given his previous history, this would hardly be surprising. It’s entirely possible that this country may well experience the first President in it’s distinguished history to see his approval rating sink into single digits.
(I’ve often wondered…if a President’s approval ratings drop into negative numbers, will he then implode?)
How much more will the American sheeple tolerate before they demand that Comander Codpiece © and Vlad the Impaler Dick Cheney be impeached? Well, seven years after tolerating the theft of a Presidential election, I think we’ve shown that we can tolerate virtually ANY degree of ineptitude, dishonesty, and immorality.
