Official: Iraq Gov’t Missed All Targets
WASHINGTON (AP) - A progress report on Iraq will conclude that the U.S.-backed government in Baghdad has not met any of its targets for political, economic and other reform, speeding up the Bush administration’s reckoning on what to do next, a U.S. official said Monday…. “The facts are not in question,” the official told The Associated Press, speaking on condition of anonymity because the draft is still under discussion. “The real question is how the White House proceeds with a post-surge strategy in light of the report.”
SHOCKED!! I am shocked that not only does the “surge” not seem to be working, but the Iraqi government has apparently had their collective thumbs up their butt this whole time. Gee, whodathunkit? In a country in which Shia and Sunni would just as soon kill one another as try to find a peaceful resolution, Iraqi government is a contradiction in terms. I know; hard to believe, eh??
What’s going to be interesting will be to see how Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © and his propaganda-meisters will attempt to spin this to their advantage. Rather than take responsibility for their miserable, bloody failure of a policy, you can bet that we’ll be hearing a lot about the evils of “cutting and running”, not “staying the course”, or whatever the phrase that pays happens to be this time around. With the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan draining the public coffers to the tune of $12 billion PER MONTH, The Worst President EVER © is in dire need of something- ANYTHING- that will convince the American sheeple that he knows what he’s doing in Iraq. Good luck with that one, eh?
Of course, you could try trotting out the Iraqi foreign minister, who will dutifully parrot the Administration’s prediction of terrible, awful, nasty things happening should the US pull out (and isn’t pulling out early always a messy propostion??).
I think the real problem here is that the lies and the propaganda are finally catching beginning to catch up with King George the Worst © . When events outpace your ability to effectively and quickly propagandize them, you’re eventually going to have some ‘splainin’ to do. No longer can the reality in Iraq be spun into something positive…if only we just give it a little bit more time and allow the Administration free reign to do what they think is in their the country’s best interest. The lies are catching up with them…so isn’t about time we once again ask the question begging to be asked?
