Republicans Kill Webb’s Troop-Protection Amendment

S.AMDT.2012

Question: On the Cloture Motion (Motion to Invoke Cloture on the Webb Amdt. No. 2012 )

Republicans Against Troop-Protection Amendment

Addressing the class-based inequities our young people of military age face

We didn’t need any further proof that Congressional Republicans really don’t give a damn about the troops or their families but we just got it in the United States Senate anyway…. Senate Republicans succeeded in a filibuster in which they refused to end debate on Virginia Democrat Jim Webb’s S. 2012, which would have placed strict limits on National Guard and reserve deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan as well as mandating more downtime at home before active-duty combat troops are returned to battle. The vote was 56-41 to end debate, with 60 votes needed to move to a full, up-or-down vote on the Webb measure. Once again, the GOP has been successful at destroying another Democratic attempt at helping service members and their families caught in the buzzsaw of the Bush administration’s lies and incompetence.

The next time you hear one of these Republican hypocrites crowing about how much they love and support our troops, feel free to bitch-slap them as you remind them of this vote. Then feel free to remind our troops that, according to these Republicans, their mental health and the well-being of their families are secondary considerations to the need to support and prosecute Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader’s © Glorious Holy War Against Islamofascism. I mean, d’ya want the terrorist blowing things up in your town…or would you rather we fight the terrorists where THEY live? Besides, The Worst President EVER © has a legacy to build…and you don’t want to cut and run on that…DO YOU??

I find it interesting- and quite disturbing- that Republicans can profess their love and support for our troops on the one hand and yet shoot down legislation designed expressly for their welfare on the other. Every one of these hypocrites deserve to be held up to public ridicule…because they’re obviously more concerned about political considerations than caring for the young Americans forced to bear the brunt of Republican corruption and self-interest.

Then again, if we’re going to continue with policies that do little more than create new terrorists, what can you do? SOMEONE is going to have to serve as IED fodder, and you don’t really think that the children of Republican Senators and Congressmen are going to volunteer for that duty, do you? Legacies aren’t made; they’re purchased with the blood of young Americans who have been propagandized into thinking that they’re fighting to protect our freedom. Ah, behold the power of propaganda….

Of course, The Decider’s © is apparently far more important to these Republican Senators than the well-being and mental health of those doing the fighting and dying. Hey, these folks didn’t have to enlist, right?

NOW CAN WE IMPEACH THE LYING, MURDERING BASTARD??? And his Republican enablers in Congress??
