To save America, we need another 9/11
ONE MONTH from The Anniversary, I’m thinking another 9/11 would help America. What kind of a sick bastard would write such a thing? A bastard so sick of how splintered we are politically - thanks mainly to our ineptitude in Iraq - that we have forgotten who the enemy is. It is not Bush and it is not Hillary and it is not Daily Kos or Bill O’Reilly or Giuliani or Barack. It is global terrorists who use Islam to justify their hideous sins, including blowing up women and children. Iraq has fractured the U.S. into jigsaw pieces of competing interests that encourage our enemies. We are deeply divided and division is weakness.

I don’t necessarily disagree with the point Bykofsky is trying to make in this “I know I’m going to get nailed for this, but here goes….” opinion piece. Honestly, I think his heart’s really in the right place in lamenting the divisions that are tearing this country apart. Where Bykofsky goes wrong, though, is in glossing over the role that Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © and his neoConservative thugs have played in creating and fostering those divisions. This is a President who stole his way into office to begin with, and then used 9.11 to essentially divide and conquer the American sheeple. By exploiting and demonizing legitimate differences of opinion in this country (What else could “If you’re not with us, you’re against us” be interpreted as??), he has managed to succeed by appealing to the baser instincts and fears of a majority of the American voting population.
By appealing to the undercurrent of fear that grip this nation after 9.11, The Worst President EVER © has managed to keep an entire nation- the greatest, most powerful nation on the face of this planet- scared and stupid. By trafficking in the language of fear and insecurity, enough Americans were convinced in 2004 that The Decider © and ONLY The Decider © could keep this country safe from the Fanatical Swarthy Evildoers.
And yet something has gone horribly wrong for this Administration. Somewhere along the way, their arrogance and conceit prevented them from realizing that the fear that fueled their reign of error was purchased with the blood of thousands of young Americans. Once Americans began to reconsider what was being done in their name, they gradually but inexorably regained their senses and turned against the war in Iraq.
But why?
Not because Americans are “anti-war.”
Americans have turned their backs because the war has dragged on too long and we don’t have the patience for a long slog. We’ve been in Iraq for four years, but to some it seems like a century. In contrast, Britain just pulled its soldiers out of Northern Ireland where they had been, often being shot at, almost 40 years.
That’s not the American way.
No, America is not a colonial power. Contrary to what much of the world believes, Americans are not imperialists…at least not in the traditional, political sense of the word. We may be exporting our expertise and financial power and acumen to the four corners of the globe, but Americans traditionally have never wanted the responsibility that comes with Empire.
What disturbs me so much about Bykoksky’s piece is that, while clearly heartfelt, he’s essentially advocating for mass slaughter of innocent Americans as a way to unite America behind Commander Codpiece © . I can think of nothing more thoroughly demented or more inappropriately sick than the sentiments expressed by Bykofsky’s words.
As proof of this, I would humbly offer the reality that Bykofsky is now the darling of the Right-wing media, having appeared on Fox News Channel, and a few Right-wing talk radio shows. Bykofsky should be reviled for being the DUMB@$$ he is, and yet there are those on the far Right willing to treat him as if he’s some sort of (&^%$#@ prophet.
America’s fabric is pulling apart like a cheap sweater.
What would sew us back together?
Another 9/11 attack.
The Golden Gate Bridge. Mount Rushmore. Chicago’s Wrigley Field. The Philadelphia subway system. The U.S. is a target-rich environment for al Qaeda.
Is there any doubt they are planning to hit us again?
If it is to be, then let it be. It will take another attack on the homeland to quell the chattering of chipmunks and to restore America’s righteous rage and singular purpose to prevail.
The unity brought by such an attack sadly won’t last forever.
The first 9/11 proved that.
And sadly, it would appear that Stu Bykofsky has long since forgotten the pain and the anguish that the attacks of 9.11 caused for some many Americans. Few of us were left untouched by the senseless murder of 3,000 innocent Americans.
Perhaps it’s time for Bykofsky to pay a visit to Ground Zero, where he can express his opinion to New Yorkers who lived through that horrible day. Perhaps if he’s fortunate, they’ll give him a head start before the chase him down so they can tar and feather him.
Another 9.11? Jeebus, that’s something that only a sick bastard and a confirmed, unrepentant DUMB@$$ could wish for….

How to be dramatic, Jack.
Settle down…No one is advocating the mass slaughter of innocent Americans.
We have supplied the world the mother load of all drama over the past 5 years. In fact, so much so, we are now using the surplus to victimizing ourselves with it
When Sadam was in power, his only power was “propaganda”/”drama”
Pre-war, Sadam had the Ace of Spades under his sleeves. Ultimately, Sadam baited us into a win-win situation for himself. A man who doesn’t have a military, strong enough to beat many other countries less superior than the US, decides to pick a fight with the most powerful country of all. That should have been a big clue. WIN 1 = Everyone backs down and Sadam solidifies himself as a force. It also hurts USA reputation and opens the door for more of the same. WIN 2 = Sadam martyrs himself and his country to fuel the ONLY power that has a chance to beat and hurt the USA, which is “propaganda”. Sure he loses the battle, but he’ll win the war, which right now he is.
You think what works for Muslim extremist doesn’t work for Joe America? People are sheep.
What do you think terror attacks are? We know an airplane isn’t going to destroy the US.
Most high-risk terror targets share the same characteristic. They are all symbolic.
You want to make a statement, blow up the World Trade Center. You want to kill people, blow up a mall or an apartment building.
So why pick a fight with us? One reason: To revive morale and confidence amongst our enemies.
Sad to say, but all we have is our American fabric.
No military might, regardless of its power, is going to win anything unless you have Heart and Courage behind it.
Where we are at now, we need something, because the American masses are no different than the religious fanatics that hate us. We are all run on emotion (drama-propaganda).
Would an adrenaline shot of the same be the cure, I don’t know.
But a big shot of “adrenaline” might be the only thing left to revive “the heartbeat of America”
In my opinion, instead of another 9-11 on our soil, how about a 9-11 on theirs.
