As yet another example of how far this President will sink....

Bush: Iraq Pretty Much Like Vietnam

Bush Says He Supports Iraq’s Al-Maliki

With his daughter getting married, his administration wiretapping all of his political enemies, paranoia running rampant and everyone in the country high out of their minds on coke, Bush has finally come to realize that his pointless, unwinnable war is exactly like Johnson and Nixon’s pointless, unwinnable war. Because while before we were fighting in Iraq to prevent Iraq from fighting in us, or something, now we fight there so that Pol Pot doesn’t rise from the dead and take over. It’s true! Bush is going to deliver a speech about it and everything!

You know, not so very long ago, Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © and his propagandists apologists bristled at the very suggestion that the war in Iraq might bear some parallels to Vietnam. How could any reasonable person make such an ignorant, uninformed comparison, they asked? Iraq is NOTHING like Vietnam. Why? Because Vietnam was a war against the Communist menace. Iraq is a war against militant Islamofascism, a war for the very survival of our nation and our way of life. WE HAVE TO FIGHT THEM THERE SO WE DON’T HAVE TO FIGHT THEM HERE, PEOPLE!!!

Fast forward a few years, and what was then verboten is now the propaganda/talking point of the moment. What’s more, there are even LESSONS that Americans should be drawing from our Vietnam experience that, if applied properly will show conclusively that cutting and running leads to bad, bad things. Nasty things. Evil things. And you wouldn’t want those sorts of things on your conscience, would you? You do support our troops, don’t you? DON’T YOU??

Arguing that the buildup of U.S. forces was showing results, Bush said, “Our troops are seeing this progress that is being made on the ground. And as they take the initiative from the enemy, they have a question: `Will their elected leaders in Washington pull the rug out from under them just as they’re gaining momentum and changing the dynamic on the ground in Iraq?’”

Comparing Iraq with earlier wars, Bush said, “The question now before us comes down to this: `Will today’s generation of Americans resist the deceptive allure of retreat and do in the Middle East what veterans in this room did in Asia?’”

“The deceptive allure of retreat”?? WTF? Has this sorry excuse for a President (and a human being) become so thoroughly convinced of his regal infallibility that he refuses to acknowledge what’s blindingly obvious to the majority of Americans? Even if you believe that the “surge” is working, any success is fleeting at best and certainly about four years too late.

The only thing that Iraq has in common with Vietnam is that both were ineptly-conducted wars allowed to drag on far too long because the Presidents responsible for each one lacked the cojones and the honesty to own up to their mistakes. Thousands of young Americans were and continue to be sacrificed on the altar of Presidential hubris and stupidity.

NOW CAN WE IMPEACH THE LYING, MURDERING BASTARD??
