Either a New Orleans hooker or a Republican Congressman is lying. Guess which one passed the polygraph test?

Woman linked to Vitter is tested: Polygraph says she didn’t lie about sex

Weeks after U.S. Sen. David Vitter tried to discredit her allegations, a woman who used to work as a prostitute in New Orleans passed a lie detector test averring that she had a “sexual relationship” with Vitter that lasted at least four months. Magazine publisher Larry Flynt paid for the woman to take the polygraph test, and he plans to hold a news conference with her at his Beverly Hills office today to unveil the results and challenge the senator to submit to a polygraph. The woman, Wendy Yow Ellis, claims that she had intercourse with Vitter in a French Quarter apartment at Dauphine and Dumaine streets in 1999, the year the Metairie Republican was elected to Congress.

The corpse of Sen. Larry Craig’s career is still warm, so you think we’d have some time to digest this travesty before we get slapped in the face with yet another Republican sex scandal…right? Well, no, not really. Now it looks as if Sen. David Vitter’s career may well be the next casualty of Republican arrogance and lack of self-control. Man, somebody’s got some ‘splainin’ to do….

Craig and Vitter, two of the GOP’s “holier-than-thou” lobby (and who were quite happy to castigate President Bill Clinton for his sexual indiscretions), have managed- with surprisingly little effort- to take hypocrisy and deceit to new heights. Or depths, depending on your perspective, I suppose. In Vitter’s case, his transgressions at least involve heterosexual sex, so the hue and cry from his Republican colleagues has been predictably muted. Sure, both Craig and Vitter are married, and they both trumpet the primacy of “family values”, but at least Vitter likes girls…even if they are prostitutes.

Vitter’s case isn’t exactly news; outside of New Orleans, most of America has long since forgotten this story, which actually came to light several months ago. No doubt Vitter and his Republican colleagues have been counting on the short attention span of the American sheeple. I still haven’t been able to figure out what Larry Craig is up to, though. Apparently, doing the right depends on his ability to rewrite history; if he’s successful, he might even be able to portray himself as the victim of some sort of insidious Librul plot. There I was trying to enjoy some quiet time and take a dump in an airport restroom…. Yeah, right….whatever….

I’m not about to hold forth on whether or not Democrats are better at keeping it in their pants, because we all know this is a human failing that knows no party allegiance. Nonetheless, Republicans are the ones who are wont to portray themselves as staunch defenders of decency and family values…all while some of them are buggering goats, schtupping hookers, or looking for love in all the wrong places. Sexual indiscretion may not recognize party allegiance, but holier-than-thou hypocrisy certainly seems to be the province of the Republican Party these days, doesn’t it??

Say goodbye, Larry & David…it’s time for both of you to go….
