It’s Don Cherry blossom time: Hockey’s Almost Here, In Case You’ve, Like, Forgotten Eh?
If Chris Simon and Ryan Hollweg are trying to kill each other, you know that the NHL regular season can’t be far off. Saturday, to be exact; unless there’s an earlier game I didn’t detect, which is entirely possible.
My how time has flown, eh? For those of us who define the passage of time using only two seasons- “summer” and “hockey season”, it appears that summer comes to an end this Saturday. Thankfully, summer is only three months long. It seems like just yesterday that the Stanley Cup Finals came to an end…and in a sense, it WAS only yesterday, which is just fine by me. I’ve grown tired of baseball, anyway.
I keep promising myself that someday, when I’m rich and famous, I’ll get the NHL Center Ice package. Yes, nothing quite says it’s hockey season like watching Edmonton-Calgary on a wintry Saturday night, eh? Of course, here along the Gulf Coast, there’s nothing much of anything that resembles a wintry Saturday night, but I do what I can. For now, I’m just happy that the puck’s about to drop again. Yes, I’ll be saddle with yet another season of hockey on Versus (I miss ESPN’s NHL broadcasts….), but it’s NHL hockey, so I’ll just have to stop whining and take what I can get. Game on, eh??
