Pizza Hut Japan Creates Mega Pizza-Toppings Galore!
Using McDonalds’ As Pizza Toppings
OK, so as I’m working to lose weight (I’ve dropped about 20 lbs. so far) and get myself into better shape, I find myself increasingly drawn to bizzare food stories. I can’t explain why; perhaps it’s like those weird cravings some pregnant women get, but I’m fascinated by the things that people willingly put into their mouths. My latest fascination is pizza, about which it can be said that I’m something of a traditionalist. While I’m willing to countenance the idea of “gourmet” pizza (uh…goat cheese, capers, and bat guano??), I prefer my pizza the way I prefer my coffee- moderately unadulterated and very straightforward. Crust, cheese, tomato sauce, onion, green peppers, garlic, oregano…and perhaps the meat(s) of your choice. Pretty simple, uncomplicated stuff. Unbeknownst to my pedestrian palate, though, an entire movement has developed around the idea of creating pizzas using the wierdest toppings imaginable. French fries? Big Macs? Truly, the Apocalypse is upon us….
The one thing I truly struggle to understand is the idea of “dessert” pizzas, like Pizza Hut’s Oreo and frosting monstrosity. Call me inflexible, but if it ain’t got cheese, crust, and pizza sauce, can it even reasonably be called “pizza”? Shouldn’t there be some law or government regulation that delineates the defining characteristics of pizza? OK, so I’m a traditionalist, but I refuse to accept that anything consisting of crumbled Oreo cookies and frosting can be called “pizza”? I’m sorry, but someone has to draw the line somewhere, right? Isn’t it about time that someone still up for all the is good, right, and holy?
I should say so….
