Republican party embraces Limbaugh’s attack on the troops
For those of you who might have been thinking that Republicans might try to isolate Rush Limbaugh and paint him as some sort of lone looney tunes for his condeming American soldiers who don’t unquestioningly support Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © and his Excellent Adventure in Iraq © , guess what? Republicans are lining up solidly behind Limbaugh as one of their own. Yeah, I know; so who’s supporting the troops now?
What’s worse is that Republicans are using Limbaugh’s comments as a fundraising opportunity. So, not only is the GOP standing solidly Limbaugh, a man who portrayed soldiers who don’t march in ideological lockstep with Right-wing ideology as “phony soldiers”, they’re trying to make money off the controversy.
If there was ANY doubt as to Republican priorities, this should effectively remove them. Republicans will wax philosophical and indignant about the need to support the troops, and then they’ll get behind Rush Limbaugh, who’s managed to insult our men and women in uniform in a way that should be roundly condemned by any reasonable person. Then again, this does show what really matters to Republicans- and it’s not supporting the troops, is it?
