Critics Calling New CIA Counterterrorism Logo A “Slam Dunk”

The CIA has inexplicably come up with a logo for the “Terrorist Buster,” some sort of imaginary Christian cheerleader representing the DCI Counterterrorist Center. Take a better look at the logo, realize that this is actually happening, and then continue reading. We’ll wait for you. [Pause]. Ready? THIS IS AN OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT LOGO?! The logo is clearly inspired by that of the popular film, Ghostbusters (the one with the marshmallow monster thing)….

Uh…OK. So, we can’t keep fake bombs from being surreptitiously carried onto passenger airplanes, but the CIA can come up with a spiffy new logo that trumpets their counterterrorism efforts? Or perhaps it’s just the logo for the CIA’s office basketball team? WTF? Yeah…we can’t catch Osama bin-Laden, but that logo sure is something, eh?

Would it be unpatriotic of me to ask how much time and money was wasted on this highly derivative logo? I mean, if you’re going to waste taxpayer-funded resources on a pointless symbol, couldn’t you at least be intellectually honest enough to come up with something original and at least moderately creative?

Jeebus, no wonder these bureacrats can’t nail Osama….
