DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #682: WA State Rep. Richard Curtis (R-La Center)

Details surrounding the case remained sketchy Sunday, but authorities confirmed that it involves two-term state Rep. Richard Curtis, a Republican from the small southwest Washington town of La Center, and that there was some type of confrontation last week at Davenport Tower. The identity of the alleged extortionist was unavailable, though police confirm he is a reputed prostitute…. A Spokane TV station, KREM, reported on its Web site that investigators said Curtis and the man had a sexual¬¨‚↠encounter and were seen together at various spots around the city.

Man, this is like deja vu all over again, isn’t it? A Republican lawmaker gets caught with his zipper down, and it turns out the the person yanking on his zipper also happens to be male…in this case a male prostitute. Dude, you just CANNOT make this stuff up, eh?

Honestly, I’ve long since grown tired of the rank hypocrisy of Republicans. I’ve said many a time that I could care less if they bugger goats in their off hours. This is a free country, and people should be free to indulge their appetites…as long as everyone involved consents to the activity. Sadly, for these trolls, it’s not nearly so simple. Too many Republicans- and we all know who they are- have wasted too much energy and too much wind railing against the very lifestyle and activities they themselves have partaken in, sometimes for many years. The hypocrisy sickens me, but given the number of Republicans who have been exposed as double-dealing pederasts and closeted homosexuals, it makes me wonder how many others are out there, just waiting to have their own personal perversions publicly exposed?

Jeebus, how numb have we collectively become when we’re willing to countenance this sort of rank hypocrisy? Oh, but you can bet that if we were talking about DEMOCRATS, the hue and cry, the weeping and gnashing of teeth would be heard far and wide throughout the kingdom. How many Right-wing self-righteous religious zealots would be screaming in fits of apoplexy about the moral turpitude of the Democrat in question (and Democrats in general)? Yet because we’re talking about Republicans here, you’ll hear little if anything about those engaged in this sort of duplicitious hypocrisy. Double standard? You tell me.

Richard Curtis is merely the latest in a growing- and disturbingly long- list of Republicans who have been caught taking a stroll on the wild side. In and of itself, homosexual activity is not anything that particularly concerns me. Combine that with the self-righteoushypocrisy of so many Republicans, though, and you might begin to understand why Curtis’ indiscretions are a matter of public concern…and the stuff that DUMB@$$ AWARDS are made of.
