Scott McClellan Trashes Bush Admin in Memoir
Scott McClellan was the White House press secretary during a tough stretch. Let’s call it the “Golden Age of Lying,” as opposed to the “I Have Feeling Bush Is Lying” (2001-2003) and “Eh, Bush Is Lying Again, Big Whoop” (2005-present) eras that bookended his tenure. McClellan always seemed like a decent guy beneath that shiny veneer of geopolitical sin, and now he’s coming out to exonerate himself. His new memoir, WHAT HAPPENED: Inside the Bush White House and What’s Wrong With Washington, comes out soon, and within it he comments on his role ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ the administration’s bitch ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ in Plamegate. He names liar peoples’ names, too ‚Äö√Ñ√Æ five of them! You can probably guess at least three without thinking.
Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © and his neoConservative thugs apologists have made lies and propaganda their stock in trade. Yeah, I know; who knew? I’m as shocked as anyone that a President who rode into the Oval Office promising to “restore honor and dignity” to the White House has turned out to be such an inveterate and cold-blooded liar…and that he’s surrounded himself with sycophants who’ve proven themselves equally ethically and morally bankrupt.
Yeah, things were going to be different. A new wind was going to blow through Washington, and the business of doing the Sheeple’s business was going to be open, transparent, and above reproach. One illegal war and 4,000 dead Americans later…well, how’s that “restoring honor and dignity” thing working out for you?
Like everything else to come out of this White House, Scott McClellan is tainted by the lies and dishonesty. Even worse, he has the blood of almost 4000 dead Americans on his hands. Now that he’s trying to sell a book, he’s all about the mea culpas. Well, DUH…there’s money to be made…and there’s apparently good money to be made if your a former Adminstration propagandist willing to fall on your sword in order to sell books. McClellan may be finally admitting to what most of us already knew to be the truth, and there’s no honor to be gained by finally owning up to the lies and propaganda you helped to peddled for your time in the spotlight.
It’s too bad that McClellan couldn’t be bothered to have this come-to-Jesus moment when he might have actually been able to make a difference. Now that he’s trying to make some money, he cops to the reality that he deceived and was deceived in pursuit of the dominionist theocratic agenda pursued by The Worst President EVER and his merry band of neoConservative thugs.
If there was any justice in this world, Scott McClellan would be wearing an orange prison jumpsuit instead of working on his (allegedly) tell-all memoir. Of course, he’s a Republican, so he gets a free pass. I can’t help but wonder what he’d say to the families of the almost 4000 dead Americans whom he helped condemn to death through his partisan prevarication and propagandizing.
