A Pitcher Not A Catcher: Baseball Loses A Trailblazer
Kazuhito Tadano Returns To Japan
It’s one of the truisms of sports- and if it isn’t, then it really should be- that “gay porn” and “Major League Baseball” really don’t belong in the same sentence. Of course, Kaz Tadano’s prior life might have been a useful distraction back not so very long ago when the Indians still sucked (no pun intended). Now, though, in the macho world of professional, Tadano- by all accounts a perfect gentleman and a nice guy- was and probably always will be a square peg in a world of round holed (again, no pun intended…yeah, right….)
Then again, Tadano’s presence in the Indians’ clubhouse undoubtedly brought a whole new meaning to the verbs “pitching” and “catching”. In a major league clubhouse, none of which have ever been spotlighted as bastions of open-mindedness and inclusiveness, I’d imagine there were more than a few homophobes who managed to keep as much distance between themselves and Tadano as possible. Yes, “open-mindedness” and “professional athletes”…two more phrases you’re unlikely to see appear in the same sentence.
Ah, Kaz…we hardly knew ye. I suppose this means that the plans for the Kaz Tadano Film Festival are off, then??
