What do Soviets and Bushbots have in common? How about revisionist history?

Rove: “Congress Pushed Bush to War in Iraq Prematurely”

You are not going to believe this, well, actually you will… According to Karl Rove (on Charlie Rose), the Bush Administration did not want Congress to vote on the Iraq War resolution in the fall of 2002, because they thought it should not be done within the context of an election. Rove, you see, did not think the war vote should be “political”. Moreover, according to Rove, that “premature vote” led to many of the problems that cropped up in the Iraq War. Had Congress not pushed, he says, Bush could have spent more time assembling a coalition, and provided more time to the inspectors. If you are like me, you have stopped reading/listening, and are rushing to get your anti-emetic.

So what do you do when you can no longer control the truth? Well, if you’re Karl Rove, the next step is to apparently just make stuf up out of whole cloth. So, let me see if I have this straight…Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © and his evil band of neoCons wanted to give diplomacy a chance? They didn’t want to have to resort to military means to oust Saddam Hussein and secure Iraq’s oil supplies? Man, I just knew I shouldn’t have read this while I was eating. I can feel my breakfast coming back for a repeat performance. Uggh….

Yeah…you know, if it was for those evil, politically calculating Democrats in Congress, the Bushbots just might have been able to find a way for diplomacy to work and for peace and prosperity to reign throughout the Middle East.

Uh…is it just me, or does Rove seem to be inhabiting a place straight out of Alice in Wonderland? Yeah, I know; if you don’t like the truth as it is, just think about the way things oughta be.

Somewhere, Josef Goebbels is smiling….

It is worth remembering that the Senate in the fall of 2002 was controlled, barely, by Democrats. Get it? George Bush, we are being told, wanted to delay, wanted to hold back, wanted to take the time to build a coalition and let the inspectors finish their job, but that damn Congress just pushed him into it. George Bush, you see, is a careful, prudent, leader, deeply concerned about the consequences of premature.

Get it? If Biden, Clinton, Dodd or Edwards is part of the Democratic ticket, the Republicans will run a campaign charging the Senate Democrats with rushing to judgment, of pushing the poor President to premature…(well, you fill in the blank)….

Not that Iraq is that big of an issue. Rove claims that, if Iraq had been a big issue, that Joe Lieberman, who was pro-war, could not have won in Connecticut, defeating receiving more Democratic, Independent and Republican votes than any of his opponents.

Having failed to win the war, and having lost the present due to their reliance of lies, spin, and propaganda, it appears that the Bushbots are now bent on writing their own alternate view of history. After all, when you believe that truth is created by those who repeat the same talking points with the most volume and discipline, you need to get an early start if you want the history books to be written from a favorable viewpoint.

I never cease to be amazed at the willingness and ability of Bushbots to ignore abject reality in favor of their preferred and approved view of history. The problem is here is that before long, Right-wing mouthpieces like Faux News Channel will begin parrotting these new talking points before long. Before you know it, a significant proportion of the American sheeple will be convinced that those evil (&^%$#@ Democrats are responsible for the war in Iraq. I suppose this is what happens when you’re not paying attention and, even worse, refuse to think critically.

It’s true, we really ARE ruled by the lowest common denominator…and these knuckle-dragging troglodytes votes. Yes, we just love American democracy, don’t we??

STILL GLAD YOU VOTED REPUBLICAN? Don’t you wish everyone would??
