Yes, the fact that they're breeding SHOULD be a cause for concern

Bush 41 Gets His News From Fox News; Warns More Bushes May Run For Public Office

Fox News Sunday launched a new series this week called “American Leaders” that seeks to engage “prominent business, cultural and social figures in candid discussion.” The first “leader” featured by Fox was former President George H.W. Bush, who gave the network an exclusive interview at his Presidential Library. In his interview this morning, the former president returned the praise, saying that when he watches TV news, he watches Fox News…. Bush also said that he would like to see another generation of Bushes in public office. “I’ve got a grandson that would make a wonderfully able public servant if he ran, George P.,” said Bush. “And Pierce, Neil’s son. They have an interest in politics.”

What does it say about us as a nation when a former President swears by Faux News Channel? What does it say about our ability to process information and recognize reality without it first being run through the ideological filter of one of the most craven and dishonest news organizations known to Man?

I don’t know about you, but to me it says that Americans are largely a phenomenally stupid, intellecutally numb, brain-dead lot, contently to let others do the heavy intellectual living for them while they react based on propaganda, misconceptions, and outright lies. What’s even worse is that the majority of Americans think they’re pretty smart, that they’ve got things figured out. I realize that this is going to make me look horribly arrogant and elitist, but this state of affairs is the truth we live with today. American democracy is controlled by voters who are overwhelmingly stupid, ignorant, and intellectually lazy. Yes, we’re being ruled by a majority composed primarily of intellectual blank slates, most of whom haven’t had a creative or critical thought since the Reagan Administration. Worst of all, this moronic majority votes- usually with their fears, ignorance, and reaction leading the way. Such is the stuff democracy is made of, I suppose. Governance by, of, and for the lowest common denominator- which, in our post-9.11 world, is fear, ignorance, and reaction.

Leading the way in “keepin’ ‘em stupid” is Fox News Channel, the Right-wing propaganda tool of choice for far too many Republican ideologues. Then again, things are so much easier to manage when you can keep Americans scared. It sure beats the Hell out of actually trying to make a positive difference for this country, eh? If all you’re really worried about is keeping your job, you’ll do whatever it takes, using whatever tools are at your disposal. Over the years, Faux News Channel has proven itself to be a useful tool. They get to claim the ideological and moral high ground, and Right-wing demagogues get free publicity and face time. Man, talk about synergy.

It sure beats the Hell out of thinking, eh? Besides, with the Bushes breeding, it’s not as if things are likely to change any time soon. Not when you can rail against Lesbian feminazis like Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton…and their “San Francisco values”.
