Another DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener

Olbermann: I Nearly Left MSNBC In 2003 Over Michael Savage’s ‚Äö√Ñ√≤Spattering Invective’

Savage makes degrading comments about House Speaker, other prominent Dem women

DUMB@$$ AWARD wiener #705: Michael Savage

I don’t mind that Michael Savage’s cosmology seems to consist largely of surpassing ignorance and knuckle-dragging intolerance of those who think, believe, and live differently. This is still, after all, (nominally) a free country, and Savage to hold such views as he can fit in his pointy li’l haid. Where the line should be drawn, however, is the vile, ignorant, hate-filled invective his employers allow him to spew on his radio show. Yes, as I’ve said many a time, free speech is often offensive speech- but does gratuitous, mean-spirited invective really need to be something that a major corporation condones in the name of advertising rates? Does Savage’s coarsening of the public discourse in such a vile, despicable manner really need to be tolerated?

The sad thing is that Savage is hardly the only example of the cancer he represents. Bloviating ignorami seem to be proliferating these days (et tu Michelle malkin, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, ad infinitum, ad nauseum?), and they’re able to engage in gratuitously degrading personal attacks that would create a public outcry from sea to shining sea if a Liberal media personality employed the same shtick. Double standard? We don’t need your stinkin’ double standard….

Yeah, right; WHAT LIBERAL MEDIA???

Michael Savage referred to Rep. Jane Harman, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Sen. Barbara Boxer as “yentas,” said Harman should “[g]o home and cook verenikis,” and suggested that they were in office because they “have rich husbands who put them in power with their money, so they could have a little hobby in between getting their nails done.” Later Savage asked his “board operator” if he would rather “be waterboarded for 30 seconds or eat Jane Harman’s ravioli” and whether he’d rather “be waterboarded or eat Nancy Pelosi’s tortellini.”

If a Left-wing media personality engaged in similar gratuitously insulting descriptions of, say, Laura Bush, Kay Bailey Hutchison, and Elizabeth Dole, that person would be slapped down immediately- and deservedly so. This sort of mean-spirited, hateful rhetoric has absolutely no place in the public conversation…unless you’re a Conservative, of course. I’m not going to say that if you can’t say anything nice you shouldn’t say anything at all, but is there anything wrong with living by that rule when it comes to public personal attacks?

Michael Savage is the lowest form of human trash imaginable. He has NOTHING of any value to add to the public discourse, and yet he continues to collect a sizable paycheck. There are still those who hang on his every utterance as if it were manna from Heaven, which if you think about it, is the scariest part of this problem. Yes, there are some phenomenally stupid and intellectually inert people out there, people who think this sort of mean-spirited politics of personal destruction is perfectly acceptable and reasonable behavior. What’s worst is that they vote…which is something that should scare the Hell out of any reasonable, decent person.

Michael Savage, who’s so proud of his “Savage Nation”, has nothing to be crowing about. He’s an ignorant knuckle-dragging troglodyte who cares nothing for this country. He’s all about the care and feeding of his own outsized ego…and his bank account. Sadly, both his ego and his bank account are in no imminent danger of running dry any time soon.

It will be a good day when Al Franken is in the Senate and Michael Savage has to go to a food bank to get breakfast….
