Bush loyalists turn a cold shoulder: GOP’s strategy in ‘08 even has Perry taking shot at lame duck

Part of the malaise effecting BushWorld now is common to any second-term Presidency. Combine lame-duck status with burnout, an impending Presidential election, and the media’s search for the Next Big Thing, and it’s a tough road to travel. The same thing happened to Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan, albeit to different degrees and for different reasons. What I find surprising about the plight of Our Glorious and Benevolent Leader © (besides the fact that he hasn’t been impeached yet) is the number of rats jumping off the Good Ship Lollipop in an effort to advance their own political prospects.
Govenor Goodhair, Texas’ own beloved Rick Perry, came out not so subtly for Rudy Giuliani recently. In doing so, he had some not-so-very-nice things to say about The Worst President EVER © , which some observers, including myself found rather disingenuous. Without the ascencion of George W. Bush to the throne, Rick Perry would still be an insignificant, no-account Lt. Governor- David Dewhurst with better hair and a lower IQ. For him to so openly bite the hand that fed him drips with blind, unchecked ambition.
Along with Perry, it seems virtually every Republican with even a shred of ambition is trying to separate themselves from Commander Codpiece © at the speed of light. Yes, so many Republicans seem to have seen the light that it’s wonder they haven’t been blinded by the reflected brilliance of their own ambition. Sadly, it seems the only thing they’re blinded by is their own self-interest and lust for power. I can’t help but wonder where this burst of political independence was when it came to debating the war on Iraq, when marching in ideological lockstep seemed to be the order of the day, and those who dared to think outside the box were bitch-slapping by the GOP leadership.
How many of our sons and daughters have been condemned to horrible, senseless deaths due to the naked political ambitions of so many on the Right (and so many on the Left who lacked the moral courage to stand up to these thugs)?
